    Default Update 17

Any word yet what were looking at . Also are we 100 percent positive that the epic augment overhaul is coming with it ?

It's still pretty quiet on this subject would like to see some more hinting or such that would actually make the forums worth reading .

Ddo wiki has it slated for february release. Would also like to know what is coming. I'm guessin epic gianthold and epic slot augmentation revamp. Really hoping for enhancement overhaul to make it too but somehow I doubt it.

ye i was hoping for a bit more news at least on when its going on lamania. At the moment we know nothing on some major character changes i'd be quite happy not knowing anything, just as long as i knew for how long i'd not know something. c'est la vie.

The current system seems to be that we get maybe 24 hours notice before lamannia goes up and get the release notes at about the same time it goes up. There's not really any kind of consistent or comprehensive communication about whats going on other than the release notes and what's actually on Lamannia. We get a handful of brief dev responses to some seemingly arbitrary topics while the update is on Lama, but not much back and forth.

Honestly it's probably for the best, a lot of people seem to be unable to process tentative early info an a reasonable way, and when the devs have engaged in conversation with the players it usually devolves into inane table pounding very quickly.

So we find out shortly before it goes live now. I wish we had more info, but I'll take this over the enhancement pass debacle were we were told about a truly huge change that will affect every character in potentially build-killing ways almost a year ago with everyone feeling like their toons are in limbo ever sense. Tons of people went on a "break" as soon as they heard about such a big change (why play when everything is going to get fundamentally changed "very soon"?), who knows if they'll ever come back now (or if the "enhancement pass" is even still on the table anymore, or if they just don't want to say they scrapped it... in my experience once these things get dragged out this long there's usually more to the story than "we're still working on it").

As frustrating as it is, I think it's better this way.

Nailed it! This is exactly what happens and I too believe it is better this way.

    Agreed.

While I personally would love to hear about what DDO is thinking for this release and future ones so we can have an open discussion and share our ideas I know it's not the best option for them.

The reason is that they will list some minor change they were hoping to squeeze in to U17 and when u17 rolls out and they couldn't fit it in then there will be a 257 page long thread about how outraged someone was that the icon for Rage wasn't changed to make it more "Ragey" like they were promised and then go on about how DDO is terrible and how they are going to quit. Then someone (probably me) will ask for their Lootz Plox. He (me) will get ignored while hundreds of other pages go on about how unreliable DDO is etc. Meanwhile they would have just released a new update with more content, gear, updates, bug fixes (and some new bugs of course ), but that lone posted won't remember that. They'll be too busy sulking and steaming over the Rage icon in it's current un-Ragey-like condition.

Some of us who are reasonable and can handle changes to timelines and project plans have to suffer, but it's worth it to not have a Rage Icon discussion.

Seriously though. Any chance to make it look more Ragey (Not even sure what I mean but I want it NOWZ!!!!!!)

    Honestly,

I don't need content specifics yet, but I would like to see an updated time-table on the things included in the next update or two.

I have been putting off character development for quite a while now because I know that the enhancement pass is going to alter my class choices for some deep splits I have going (for better or worse, who knows?). I'm glad I decided to TR and level one such toon after the MotU release but now I'm kind of left in limbo; wondering if I should hold off and wait or go ahead and maybe get another life in.

    I disagree

When i heard about the enhancement pass i was very excited
I would have probably quit ddo already if they didn't mention it at all,
because i was and am very disappointed with the way they make new quests.

At the moment i am thinking again if i should take a long break.
Any news would get me excited again i guess

Whatever they say, it most probably will be a lie, just like they lied about crafting and enhancements.
Even when lamania is on, they can but some weird and random change on live without testing it on lamania, so there is no reason to get excited over previevs.

I too have put off TR-ing a few of my toons so I understand your pain. I remember some discussion about it being put in with the U14 update (screen shots with a tree like structure were shown), but if not definitely u15. No luck and I have been thinking that for sure it must be coming so some alts have been shelved or working on different EDs.

Regardless if they had never said a thing I probably would have TR'd and been to level 20 now (as I did with one anyways) so I'd be ready to TR on all the alts I wanted to TR anyways again by now.

Content aside people get seriously upset too when deadlines are missed or things not included that they had hoped for. The enhancement pass is a prime example. Rather than get upset I built a druid and level him, worked on my EDs, etc and wait patiently. I will probably TR an alt and see if I can get him ready by 17 anyways just for fun. In the meantime though we have gotten a spell pass (or maybe that was before), changes to AC, new content, EDs which are a nice t wist, Epic Levels (which everyone was asking for forever) and a host of other things (I know bugs bugs and bugs, but what can you do). It's not all perfect, but it's just a game.

I'm really just playing the devil's advocate here though. I personally would love to see what the devs have in mind for new content and when so I can plan my own characters accordingly and get excited, but it has been proven time and time again that some people cannot rationally handle changes to schedules, content and timelines when devs "promised" things would be done. They are not "promising" anything. Things happen and sometimes you have to be flexible and make adjustments, but the DDO community is often unable to cope with this in a reasonable manner.

If we all "promise" to not have our heads explode when they have to alter a timeline or push back content maybe they would be more forthcoming.

I "promise" I swear. And if anyone can't.............Can I have yinz stuffz?
