dndclient has stopped working with windows 7

When I log into DDO it loads all the way to the character selection screen without any issues. Once I select a character and the loading screen happens as soon as it finishes loading (the blue bar at the bottom is all they way full) I get an error message "dndclient has stopped working"

This started happening rather suddenly a couple of weeks ago and only happens on my Windows 7 machine, it works fine on my older windows vista machine. I have attempted uninstalling and reinstalling the software twice, including a full download again. I have attempted the instructions from support.turbine.com (http://support.turbine.com/link/port...ped-responding) twice and that did not work.

Please help
