Default Linux Restricted Guild on Argonnoson?

are there enough of us penguins to make a linux only guild on Argonnoson? to help each other out with the quirks of running DDO On Linux. Linux themed guild name required so there's no confusion in prospective members

    -=EDIT=-
doesn't have to be argo, I can try a different server

I wish I could get ddo running on linux. Heck, the biggest reason I use windows is to run ddo.

That is the only reason i still use windows. If there was an easy non techie way to get it to run i would in a minute and leave the crashes and **** behind.

What kind of hardware do you need? Are you running it in WINE? Can I run it on a Raspberry Pi? MMmmm... I built a lego case for mine, making me cool already.

I doubt Raspberry Pi would run it, different CPU architecture and all.

I ran DDO on WINE for a long time, but then got fed up with the hassle of problems after every update, occasional crashes and frequent graphics bugs. I went and bought a Windows license just for playing DDO.

My HD died a few weeks ago, so while I was waiting for a replacement I tried if DDO would still run on WINE. There was a compatibility problem with the latest update, and people were waiting for the next WINE release to support DDO in its current form.

Issues with the last update resolved themselves after a few days. Some people patched their WINE installs, but I didn't. After the next hotfix everything was OK again.

    Currently running:
    Ubuntu 12.10
    WINE 1.5.20 (not using winetricks)
    Alan Jackson's LoTROLinux launcher

Indeed, I've been running in Linux since join date and that was the longest interruption thus far... 4-5 days I think. Rest of the time, it's been a matter of a few minutes or so till I figured out what I did to my wine install

If any linux guilds pop up on thelanis, I'd love to know!

Although I know you meant Windows in general, just in case: Wine doesn't stop crashes in DDO - the client still leaks memory like a sieve

Yeps, wine is a very good reimplementation of windows API; it is SO GOOD that it reimplements EVEN THE BUGS!
I wouldn't dare to install windows on my machine. Even if it would be the only solution to play DDO.
