First GS for Pure Rogue Assassin

I just got flagged for Shroud and I've run the pre-flagging quests a couple times each. Getting some ingreds now and wanting to plan for my first GS. I've been out of the game for a couple years and I know GS were all the hype then.

I'm planning on TR'ing as soon as I get my first GS. Unsure of what I want to do when it comes to Epic, we will see. I might just stay at 20, who knows. Regardless, I need a GS item.

My thought was either a Rad II Rapier, or HP Bracers. Any other thoughts would be appreciated. I'm new at crafting in general and this is my first toon anywhere near this level. Thanks.

I loved my Rad2 rapier... Lots of folks will tell you to go khopesh. Do you plan to TR? That is where GS weapons especially shine. For other end game, there are loot gen radiance items. I love my HP item, Conc Opp and more... Search the threads here, as there are many long discussions...

If you mostly solo, a Rad2 may have a good case - as well as if you're planning a TR. Once you get flagged and get the materials to craft a Rad2, you will likely be 20+ ... and there are lootgen radiance and other higher level gear that replaces it. If, however, you're planning another life, the Rad2 will be usable at 12th - that's a pretty decent spike in power.

Otherwise, I'd build an HP item first. Necklace, Bracers and Helm are good options; a triple Air air-guard, Smoke or Min2 are solid options - the Min2 and Smoke both are dual shard, so may take a while.

And when you end up with a boatload of smells and mediums while building your dual shards, consider raise dead, displacement and other clickies.

Rad2 is definitely a game changer for a rogue, but so is an extra 45 HP. AFAIK radiance on lootgen is only available on epic level gear, so if you want it for leveling in your next life it will have to come from GS. If TRing, I would make a cheap HP item such as triple air first and then a rad2 rapier. If not TRing anytime soon, I'd just make a decent HP item, such as Smoke2 or Min2 and keep an eye on the auction house for a nice radiance rapier.

I'm definitely planning a TR. Glad I wasn't far off in thinking Rad II Rapier or Min II Bracers. Thanks for the advice. For what it's worth, I'm not planning on doing Epic anytime soon.

Just looked into the Bracers some more and I'm liking the Smoke II more than the Min II. I have the Minos Legens and it obviously has Heavy Fort as well as Toughness.

I'm not sure what other Helms are in this game. Again, I will be TR'ing, it will happen. So for Heroic levels, assuming I make Min II Bracers with +45 HP, what Helm could I get to replace the Minos? Or would I be better off keeping Minos Legens and making the Smoke II w/ +45 HP Bracers?

My current Bracers are the Chaos Gardes and I'm just not satisfied with them. Thanks again.

Rad2 rapier, Smoke2 bracers, and Minos Legens is a solid TR gear setup for a rogue. You get heavy fort, perma-blur, 65 HP, displacement clicky, and blinded mobs (which take auto sneak attack damage and have a 50% miss chance against you). That combo makes for a very deadly and survivable rogue.

Sounds good. I also got Black Scale armor and a Blood Stone. Gotta start grinding for ingreds now then....

I chose RadII rapier because a lot of different classes/races can use them. I did ConcOps over MinII for my HP bracers as they also occasionally yield SP for caster lives.

Kopeshes are awesome but look at your future lives, will you always have the feat to devote to kopesh?

I fully plan to keep this specific toon a Rogue Assassin every life. I'll dabble with changing classes up on a different toon. Deltree will always be a Rogue. So all my equipment choices will be easy since they'll always be for the same type of toon.

RadII rapier or HP smoke necklace. Preferably both. I prefer necklace because there's a lot more good bracers than necklaces, but whatever.

Yeah I wouldn't recommend GS bracers as a final gear setup (bracers of twisting shade are pretty nice), but the OP said he wouldn't be doing epics anytime soon, so I think bracers is a fine slot for heroic levels.

Rad2 is a great weapon for a rogue but you can get a poor man's version with the Greater Sirocco effect. I got a Level 16 version of the Rapier of Air and it's just as nice without the 24 Large ingredients I would get for the proc rate. If you are Rapier spec'd it's probably the easier and better route to go.

Otherwise for a first HP item I am a big fan of the triple air versions for the haste guard and clicky. Min2 or Smoke2 are nice and already suggested. For a rogue though that extra 45 HP at level 11 is just bloody huge.

Radiance rapier, no question. I still use mine at level 25 the majority of the time. Don't waste a feat to use kopeshes.

I suggest to make two items: A Rad2 Rapier and a single-shard +45 HP item, e.g. Triple Air bracers, which act as a nice haste clickie, have useful defensive stats, and cost few LDS, compared to Smoke2 or Min2.

I would definitely go for smoke2 bracers or belt (I like the belt slot because I keep tharnes in my goggle slot and leviks in bracers). As for weapons rad2 is awesome for tring. While you're gathering stuff for these items you should have plenty of small/meds to make haste and raise dead clickies. Also consider making one of your raise dead clickies triple POS with 30% healing amp with is extremely nice for getting your up up in a pinch while zerging

I'd keep the Minos and go for the smoke II HP item.
