Hmmmm...I was just wondering about a lag issue

No bashing on Turbine or pointing fingers here...I just want to seek some enlightment

So I was getting the yellow latency icon constantly today while I was playing and I decided to do some speedtest.net while I was logged on.

Well I did these constantly.....and yes I know my internet plan is not high end.....3 D/L 0.75U/L ......however I usually do not have any lag problems with the games I play including both DDO and LoTRO.

Today was just horrible though....moreso than usual...and I was wondering.......if my speedtest is coming back normal....does that pinpoint the game server or one of the routers along the path as the culprit...or is it much more complex?

Is winter storm Draco causing some problems as well?

p.s. I did do an 8 different alt character login to clear inventory debacle and then a seperate different server login to Cannith....I am normally on Argo......to check something....and never completely closed my launcher.

Does totally closing your launcher...not client mind you....but launcher and client help with such issues....before you attempt to log in again to do some serious play?

Ahh well....I hit 5000/7500 slayers in RR with 5 minutes left on my XP timer....so I am satisfied...but it was seriously annoying lag.

Time for a book maybe?

Sounds like you are having similar problems to what I have been experiencing for the past week.

Reading some other forum threads, I think the problem is related to the Vale of Twilight, though I am not certain of that. If I stay away from the Vale, I don't seem to have lag problems. However, after entering the Vale, lag seems to increase with time played there.

I have begun to suspect a memory allocation problem with the Vale software. This would cause a problem similar to what I am seeing. Particularly since exiting the program and re-launching doesn't seem to clear it.

However, turning off the computer and restarting does seem to clear the problem, and it doesn't seem to reappear until entering the Vale once again.
