Anyone else's pure Monk get spell points?

So here is the situation
Last night I'm doing a full flower sniffing solo run of epic normal wiz king on my pure monk.
Level 20 monk /2 GMoF everything going as I expect go to furthest tower kill dude , second furthest tower it rayum , kill and loot leaving scroll. Start running to the first tower beating things down and happen to glance at my health bar....

***? I have a SP bar!?!?!?!?!?

O.k. That is odd, maybe rayum has some wierd disjunction effect or something on elite that causes a strange SP thingy.
No way it'll let me actually get SP. drink a baby Mem pot. By golly look at that I gots 20 sp.

So I finish figuring ah it'll go away after I complete , complete optinals kill jackal, loot treasure room run back up for scroll , pop epic chest in room.

Do you have either a Sorc or FvS past life? My monk has 20 spell points (well 170 with my GS goggles) and a FvS Past Life.

I've noticed it on some of my melees, you might have a power II item on without realizing it.

I noticed that I got a spell bar when I was in different destinies, although this should not apply to you if you are in GMoF.

I also noticed that some items that grant spell points seemed to affect characters by giving a blue line even if spell casting isn't possible -- although I don't know if this is a glitch or if it is WAI.

I'm sure others with more experience will chime in shortly.

What happens if you log out and back on?

Do you have either a Sorc or FvS past life? My monk has 20 spell points (well 170 with my GS goggles) and a FvS Past Life.

From the screen shot it looks like a first life, although I had the same thought.

I made a Greensteel necklace that carries mana and exceptional Charisma skills on it-It was designed for my Cleric past life, but now when I use it to UMD stuff, I still get the mana on a Pure Rog.

If I'm reading the responses correctly it is because of spell points on an item. Although I speculated earlier about this being a glitch v WAI I seem to recall that this is deliberate on Turbine's part.

I'm pretty sure that this is the reason for the blue bar for OP's character.

Just noticed my low wis and high int in that SS.
Must be wearing a +6 int helm to pop the rune. Might be a clvr6 powerII. My ddo can't seem to pull up this toon to check so I'll have to see when I get home.

The OP is almost certainly wearing an item with mana in it if they lack a past life etc.

With the invention of ED and the expansion devs changed this and the ki bar to appear if you have any source of ki or mana. This was to help people potentially splash in abilities from ED that have those for power sources.

For example anyone can delve into Exalted angel to gain not only spell points but echoes of power stronger then the natural one, and although it would be largely silly on a non caster could easily be twisted in. Twist in maybe something that uses SP from another ED etc. Not the most optimal but certainly fun to try changes of pace.

The single biggest benefit this gave was to arcane archer elves. Now an elf with past life sorc, 20 kensai archer with lvl 5 ED in shadow dancer will give you one scary mutha.

Thats right no longer are arcane archers dependent on actually having spell points in their class make up.

It is deliberate. Say you are a pure fighter, and you twist in an ED power that requires SP to cast, such as some of the draconics. Well, if you are in ED that doesn't have SP how are you going to use it? SP item storage as it were.
