    Default Can she be saved

I have come back from a break - and am trying to get my characters in order (there is a lot of new stuff since then, and a lot of the rules - especially, it seems, for casters.

This is my cleric - I am wondering if she can be saved. This is what I plan on doing with my free reincarnation, but I am looking for input. I would like her to be decent - able to heal end-game type raids, and maybe solo epic normal and hard (EE would be bonus, but not expected).

If I don't have a +2 to all stats, I will get one (if need, I'd be able to get +3, but would rather not, since I have several characters to fix - but this is one of my 3 mains, so I'm willing to do a little extra). My first level was Paladin, for the weapon proficiencies, I can get a +1-5 heart (although would rather not, for the same reason as above).

Keep in mind that I currently have no green-steel, and am generally limited to gear that can be solo'd (eventually I'll get to the raids and get better, but I don't want for a piece of gear to be so essential to build to the point that I am "gimped" without it.)

In this case, I picked short swords, because I can use it with shields, and drow have a bonus to them - I'm willing to go with 2 handed weapons, just not sure they are worth the shield without the feats - although I am, of course, willing to change those too.

PS - I am currently 15, that is why the enhancements look the way that they do.

Any character with 17 cleric levels can heal every raid, so you have nothing to worry about there.

Your melee DPS output is going to be pathetic. My advice there is to spend absolutely as little as possible on it, maybe Power Attack but not a heck of a lot more than that. THFing is definitely the name of the game for you as a low base damage character.

Your defensive capabilities are going to be excellent. Your best two DPS abilities are Divine Punishment (check out the Smiting enhancement line) and Blade Barrier, both of which are very kite-friendly (just don't do so in a group), and you of course have excellent self-healing ability. The very small increase to PRR from Shield Mastery is not going to matter, and even wearing a shield at all isn't really going to matter: incremental AC is insignificant for your needs.

Don't worry about tomes. A point or two makes very little difference if it's not getting you to a feat benchmark, and even if it does you can just burn a level-up on it instead.

You should be able to solo any EN or EH that doesn't include self-healing bosses, just be prepared for relatively lengthy completions. If soloing EN is like Korthos and EH is like Water Works, EE is like Elite Amrath.

Is my DPS going to be bad because I'm a cleric, or because I am taking a shield? I'm glad I'll be able to do it, but could I do it faster with a slightly different build?

Otherwise, if my main DPS is going to be two spells, should I put my level up into wisdom instead?

I am not in love with my build, so if there is a better way to do it, I haven't reincarnated yet. Like I said, I would rather not use a +1 or +3 heart, but if another level of Paladin, or 2 levels of fighter instead of the level of Paladin would be a significant difference (like finishing in 30 minutes instead of an hour), than I'd think about it

Both. Clerics have no melee DPS PrE, low DPS via enhancements, and don't have a ton of feat room. Shield use works for tanks because they can supercharge their threat, but single target DPS-wise it doesn't stack up. (And it can't, obviously, as long as it offers defensive benefits that TWF/THF don't.)

Your offensive casting has a higher ceiling than your melee, but outside of the two spells mentioned it takes a lot of effort to reach that ceiling, and imo a prohibitive amount: too many schools, not enough Spell Pen, not enough help from your enhancements. With that said, you can still get a lot out of moderately good offensive spell casting, so levels in Wisdom makes a lot of sense. Maybe start with 15/10/14/10/16/10?

1 fighter level would do you a little better because you could add Haste Boost and slide Power Attack there to get another feat, but it's not going to be night and day or anything, I wouldn't devote resources to it in your situation. Same goes for slightly different splashes, the fundamental strengths and weaknesses of the cleric are still going to dominate.

I think if you drop IC and Shield Mastery for Spell Pen and Greater SP, nab Epic SP at 21, and switch the short sword for any of the big boy THFs, you'll find the road easier than as currently built.

Some notes on the enhancements. As for critical enhancements I like critical smiting both to tier 3 for hit and damage for Divine Punishment while others like life for critical healing to auras while they melee. Depends how much u think you will be in the thick of it. You can try both to tier 2 and with nice gear will be fine or the mins, but for spell power Life the Magic 3 min and Cleric Smiting 3 min (I like Smiting 4)

I would drop the pally lvl for FTR. Drow is tough to raise str, so many go TWF. Tough on a Drow and divine, so many just take the first TWF, but with 2FTR/1WIZ that is 3 more feats. Wiz1 also give 20% to fire and Blade barrier. You can get the Dex up easy. Whole point of Elf type. You have a Dex+2 tome. DEX13 min and 15 if you want more than one TWF feat. Power Attack is ok early and late, but in the middle you will miss. Even with TWF build most will use TH'd weapons low lvl with maybe power attack. Then mid lvl 10-16 TWF is tough with PA on, so many seem to use it later. Many go Dual Keen Rapiers in each hand without the oversized weapon feat. I like them keen. Dual scimitars too. Or a keen Kukri in off hand. When you take improved critical feat you can take holy and metalline instead of keen.

Listen, to melee you will need to use Divine Power items all the time. Click them and have one hot keyed if caught without it on. I almost never use the spell Divine power cause clicking an item is more spell point effiecient. Divine Favor helps.

Why the Wisdom enhancements? Not worth it. I deleted all those enhancement cause with CHR14 Divine Might1 is better, and you need more Cleric Smiting for Divine Punishment. I don't care what your race or str is. Divine Punishment is your best boss weapon. It is a lot of damage when triple stacked. Like 3000+ every 20 seconds. I would trake Cleric Smiting 4, and some enhancements for it. Gear for it with Major Radiance and Radiance items.

Try to keep your weapon hands free for better prefixes, but if the best you got is a Radiance scepter then switch to it when needed. I keep all my spell power on items other than weapons when possible. When I sit back and heal I might equip my best spell power, but eventually they turn up on non-weapons/non-shields.

This Drow build can be tough and there are some really complicated builds for it, but these are the basics that I know, but I have never done Cleric Drow.

Thing about melee is that your offensive casting like implosion and crowd control is better for mobs than melee, but not much use on bosses while your melee is better on bosses and works well on mobs if geared. Mobs are mobs. You have lots of spells for them and ways to handle them like blade barrier. Divine Punishment IMHO is the best cleiric spell in the game after your healing and raises. Take some smiting enhancments and gear.

I would only take one melee lvl early like FTR to get the cleric spells. The melee lvl will help a lot early. Keen Falchions and Power attack with divine favor and Divine Power item ML5 will get you nice melee if you do not dump STR. YOu can still lvl up STR, but Drow is not the best start for it. It will be ok though cause you have 17 levels of Cleric and they need you to join. 17 lvls gives you 2 lvl 9 spells like Mass heal.

Try to make your first lvl a Cleric lvl, and your first melee lvl taken at second lvl. More feat versatility if you decide to go more caster later and lvl up wisdom instead with reincarnation. You can actually melee with just one Wiz lvl, but you have to cast Master's touch spell on the weapon you use each time your rest. Gives you more meta feats early. I always take toughness as my first feat.

Your lack of healing amp not my problem. Please buy and use your own remove curse pots in combat, so I don't waste mana. Not my job.

    Fighter 2 / Wizard 1 / Cleric 17
    Monk 2 / Fighter or Wizard 1 / Cleric 17
These both work, and will both get you plenty of feats. You can to TWF or weapon and shield/shield mastery. Monk version would have evasion and use light or nor armor; fighter version could be all plate and tower shield if you chose.

    Pal 2 / Fighter 1 / Cleric 17
Less feats, will work and should have even better saves.
Ghallanda - now with fewer alts and more ghostbane
