I actually just came to post something similar, Scarlett. Had a guild raid night go a little wobbly last night. My guild is kind of made up of a few vets, some halfway experienced players, and a couple newbs. If we have a raid night, we might get six or eight people interested who are online and have toons in the 20-25 lvl range, so we always pug the last spots. We put together a shroud run as a warm up. We get to part 4, the blades start to close in around Harry, I ask everyone with more than 650 hp to stay in cause he's almost down. Everybody but my 700hp rogue jumps out, and I die cause the mass heals are centered on someone else. No biggie, everyone's used to jumping out and I'm the only one who died, so no problem. They finish off Harry, hit the altar to res me while everyone's looting , someone hits the portal as the two healers and I are running back to get our loot. Everyone dies; both healers and the party leader die in part 4 and aren't teleported to part 5. We got it worked out, but a couple people who were gonna recall had to stay to the finish or miss out on those chests.

The same thing happened in our VoN 5 run later that night. I do the final traps, People start into the final room, I start to talk about what's gonna happen in the next part, someone talks to the dwarf, and two of my guildies get locked out. we redid VoN 5, moved on to 6, and this guy starts talking about beating down the pillars. I say, "hey this is epic hard. It's different". He keeps explaining how to take down the pillars. "hey this is epic hard. It's different". Still talking about needing to assign bases. "I need you to put your listening pants on right now cause I have the star and it's gonna get crazy if there are two party leaders". He's still talking! I typed The bases in chat, everyone heads to their base, he ccs the mob, my guildie and I beat everything down except the djinn (mr talkative takes that down for us). My portal beaters are broken so I'm looking for some powerful spells from Mr talkative to take the portal down quickly. *crickets* Is he makin faces at Velah? Everything comes back, I DC. Blue screen of death for my computer. I turn it off, use the windows recovery startup tool, finally get back in game and Mr talkative and I are the only people in part 6. Everyone else is giggling uncontrollably they had said and typed finish out a whole ago. Mr talkative is trying to jump across burnt out sections of bridge to get back to his base, so I jump off to the middle and finish out. The funny part was I actually would've agreed with beer's post till last night, but we had a good laugh anyway.

Honestly there's no reason at all to recall out early in Shroud and not complete. Especially now with the raid timer resets.

Even before the raid timer resets, before larges as an end reward, and extra chets for hard and elite it wasn't wise to do it. Somewhere on here Emily did the math and the numbers to aquire larges by finishing outweighed the number of larges you got by not finishing by a long shot.

Something to think about because there's no need to run for small and mediums. All you have to do is ask for them and people will leave them in the chest for you or even just give them to you from their bag. I literally have over 100 of every Lg. & Sm. and after 100 it becomes a pain in the ass to move them around so I'll gladly just give them away in chunks of 30-50. Most everyone else will too. Also the need for GS is far less these days due to better high end weapons and most people have already crafted GS so usually shards are just given away too.

But you guys already know this from drunken raid runs and have seen it first hand.
If the toon is named after a beer 17 of them are mine & 1 more not named after a beer (the black sheep of the family). Beware there are a few beer imposters out there. Unless the toon has been "Banned From All Guilds" it's a fake Beer_Dude. Fake Beer in your group leaves a nasty taste.

I needed a great shard to make my toon's GS accessory and didn't want to eat a timer because i'm cheap; I want to TR her soon with a buddy. /reason

Seen less abysmally stupid things, but also less of the 'talented newbs' - those newer people that can follow a complex plan and do well with mediocre gear.

Everyone has been closer to the middle, and I still do the most complex elite quests solo or in a tight group.

I usually PUG and rarely solo quests. What I have noticed is when I put up a group for a F2P quest there are a lot more newbies (for obvious reasons) and the so-called quality of the PUG is noticeably different than a P2P quest. I prefer a PUG with newbies anyways. Makes it more interesting and entertaining!

This had to one of the most fun raids I've been on ever! At one point, my housemate stuck her head in my room, wondering what I was laughing at so hard.

I don't mind it when PUGs have difficulty with notoriously tough optionals. Just as I'm not disappointed that my attempts at a bravery Tor with dragons failed this life on Myrmidral. (We did get elite White down at level 16 but wiped four times on black and called it; apparently blue is now easier than black as the trap range has been fixed but we didn't realise this at the time)

Forget pugs. I haven't run that thing with more than 2 people without triggering that alarm on elite. Yes, good players. Yes, invis'd. No, no one bumped anything. It's still a good xp farm.

I gave him some gear and 20 tapestries for a minos helm and heavy fort and it was like a whole new toon. Dude listened well and took my advice about coming to the forms. It's kind of like the old Reidra/Khyber days before FTP fun, pleasnt, pugging where quests get done fast and efficient and the newbies want and try to learn.

Maybe the Mayans are right the world is coming to an end.

And you can manage to do this solo or with a guild group? Please make a video on how you did that, I'm dying to now.

Id rather kill every last minotaur - more XP bonus, more guild reknown, if you buy the second monster manual you can farm minos for more rewards.

The quality of pugs on Khyber is very good ... Until you occasionally get a 70-80 hp level 10-12 rogue or arti that pops up. Good luck in made to order and von 5 elite BBs.

    Default New Guy to Server

Came over from Argo a few days ago. Rolled a cleric to try to get to 1750 favor as quick a as possible. Read this forum and sorry, just don't see it. Just last night put up an lfm for ww, elite. Several times in the quest I was carrying a backpack of soulstones.

Sadly, most of the deaths were of the noobish nature, going through traps, going in a different direction then the group, drawing too much agro and not taking it to a choke point, etc, etc.

This has nothing to do with gear. My cleric is a 28pt build with no funds to twink. I quickly sold a gold coin for 5k plat and bought the basics (blindness pots, a few wands). I came to the server to meet new people but my lfm's are slow to fill, the groups are unresponsive to most dialog and sadly, noobish in nature.

My solution so far is to use a melee hireling, keep him topped off with a divine healing, and go swing my uber lacerating quarterstaff!

I think assassinating the chieftain is one of the most clear examples of scaling. Every time i tried to pug it, even with 1 more person i had problems dpsing him down before the stupid healing ads joined the fray, and the quest takes 3 times longer.
Not mentioning people get tripped by cats, negged and instakilled by seers or impaling themselves on the stairs heh.
Even without optional it's still ok xp in 3 minutes.

That was the same raid, Bestie, but you left before it got really interesting. We still giggle about Mr. Talkative and his mindless ramblings. It was the single best whipe I've ever had.

Not a big surprise. That's going to be any server at that level. TBH most folks don't even pug until level 5 and up. Even on my healers I solo. I just grab a Gaxe and teke the penalties on the to hit. You still mow down the mobs at a fairly fast rate. Heck even my wizzie was running around with a Malestorm up to and including STK. When I say pugs I really mean from say Tear and Gwylan's up. Stay with it. You'll see a major change once you get to that level of quests. WW's is still a level where there's tons of both noobs and newbs trying to sort out and figure out the game. That's kind of expected on any server.

i've been solo'ing with Elite BB on all lives on my repeater build
and yes, i've done them without triggering alarm
no, i don't feel like making a video since it slows my gameplay down, unless you want to buy me a new rig that can handle it

people just need to know what to prioritize when taking down the minos as well as doing pulling method to kill or disable before they can trigger alarm
