Rahkir's set secondary bonus

I have an archmage V whose secondary Rahkir's set bonus, the part about increasing caster levels, doesn't show up in the buff bar.

Anyone else have this issue?

I tried resetting my enhancements and equipping the ring and belt in different orders. It doesn't show up. I tried wearing them both and nuking until my SP bar was gone in a slayer area and the caster level increase doesn't show up.

I have a screesnshot of ArchmageV in my enhancements and the tier1 set bonus appearing but not the second part that I can post later.

Almost all Archmages should want to stop at Tier IV. I would reset Enhancements and forget about it.

yeah, archmage V is terrible. if IV didn't offer +1 DC and arcane blast, i'd say skip IV entirely as well.

V costs you an extra 5 wasted AP (trust me, +1 concentration and a few measly spell points are not worth the cost) and doesn't get you access to anything interesting enough to justify the cost.

just take solace in the fact that rakhir's set is quite good in general, imo.

No, I don't know because I will never take Archmage V. I'm not going to bork my Enhancements to test something that isn't worth having.

I'm sorry, but where did I ask anyone to take an enhancement that they didn't want?

I politely acknowledged the advice given and then asked others if they could actually answer my specific question rather than dismiss it.

Take your attitude elsewhere and learn how to read--if you don't have anything pertinent to say to my actual question, find a different thread and read their question carefully. Perhaps you'll actually have something relevant to say.

The bonus procs every now and then when you cast a spell. It's useful, but not really that good. If you really need the +2 caster level to make spell penetration checks, go for it.

I understand the supposed mechanics of the effect, but in my OP I stated that I didn't see it proc after using 3,500 SP nuking trash mobs. Not once.

Furthermore, unlike, say, the Shintao set secondary bonus (bypass good/evil DR with Shintao III enhancement) which shows up in the buff bar as Shintao set bonus I and Shintao set bonus II, I only saw the Archmage I set bonus despite having qualified for the Archmage II set bonus.

Has anyone else encountered this?

I remember it working for my wizard back in update 9. Maybe it's broken now, I have no way to tell.

Nothing shows up when you equip the items.

The effect will proc randomly here and there, and I mostly notice it while buffing, which makes subsequent buffs last longer.

I haven't had it AM V for quite a while as well, the last time was at least 6 months ago before all the expansion material came out, and probably longer than that.

I sat in the devil battlefield for quite some time using up my entire SP bar and never saw anything, however. I will do more trials.

It's good to know nothing shows up though in your buff bar since for every other set that I equip, it will show a tierII (i.e. Shintao I bonus, Shintao II bonus). Seems like a confusing shame for it to not work for this set but there are worse bugs I suppose.

I tried out Archmage V for the 5th-level SLA (Hold Monster) and grew quite attached to it, so much in fact that I have yet to swap it out even though I can think of other uses for the APs.

In my subjective opinion, the tier II set bonus procs quite frequently. Tested it today on the ship... Spamming non quickened buffs one after the other, it seems to proc sufficiently frequently to be active about 30-50% of the time. I removed / reequipped the parts of the set in various permutations and did not lose the ability to proc Arcane Insight at any time.

Just curious, do you have a Tier 5 SLA? The wording of the set bonus mentions Archmage V, not SLAs associated with it, but that is the only "logical" explanation I have for your situation. That, or you're having a bad RNG day, week... month?
