Thread: The Hatchery

  1. #561

Default Are the Stormreaver and Truthful One trying out for a movie?

Hop into Gianthold and find an explorer point or journal point. Go ahead, I'll wait.

Is it just me, or does the Stormreaver (big Giant) sound more like he's trying to be an Ent (big giant TREE) from the "Lord of the Rings" movies? I keep expecting him to talk about missing Entlings and calling me a little Hobbit.

Worse, the Truthful One's narration is so hammy that I keep imagining the bag of bones with a black hat and a Snidely Whiplash villainous curly mustache, twirling it in glee and making a MUH-HA-HA-HA maniacal cackle.

That's your cue to add in the giantish and draconic ham from this area, folks.

You're complaining that Turbine hired real voice actors for Epic GH? You prefer cheesy male voices trying to imitate women? Or GG's monotone telling us this hallway is trapped? Or, more to the point, you prefer hearing "The Hatcher-The Hatch-The-The Hatchery-The Village"???

Keep up the good work Turbine. Most of us LOVE the extra mile you went with eGH voice over.

I thought both of the GH principals were a bit... hammily overdone, I suppose, at first. But the fact that they're so consistently the same has caused them to grow on me. I guess you could say they stopped sounding like extreme voice-acting and have started sounding like extreme personalities, which is kind of the point.

    And now back on topic:

Nooo! That kobold's favorite thing-a-ma-thing thing!

I miss my hatchery title, lost it in the forum change.
That's why kobolds can't have nice things cause you steal them
Aezechiel (Caster, 14th life) - Kakophonyc (Bard, 2nd life) - Larsenkarden (High saves evartie, 4th life) - Lewela (Bard, 6th life) - Punkcanard (sorcerer 4th life) - Usuldur (Melee, completionist) - Sylentbob (Vistani knife fighter, 2nd life) ... and a couple of mules

Truly, this an epic quote, as evidenced by the length of time it has remained a transition screen.

Morkahn deserves to be given a hatchery title posthaste immediately.

    + infinity to you, sir.

They left that in epic GH, as far as I can remember. Case in point: A Cry for Help. I only ever run that quest for the voiceover now.

the real voice actors are nice, don't get me wrong. very nice. i DO like them.... HOWEVER... the "cheesy" ones are great too, because it really gives you the sense of playing DnD sitting around the table listening to your DM sitting next to you behind his little screen imitating all the voices in the campaign... opposite sex and monstrous and all. i get a kick out of it

I see your point, but for me it does not work. I downright hate cheesy voiceovers such as Cry for Help and Shroud. Introductions to Mabar and Crystal Cove are okay.

Is the djinn in Coal Chamber voiced by a professional actor? I really like that one.

    Default From "Detour"

If you bother to read the dossiers, at the start of the High Road quest, "Detour," here's a snippet about Song (a harder mini-boss with all her spell wards about her, not to mention her spell casting):

"Mad Sorceress, Mistress of Storms. Song and Dom appear to have a long-standing friendship from their youth. No one knows why Song bestowed the "Mistress of Storms" moniker upon herself. Her arcane powers over the forces of nature are quite limited, and there doesn't appear to be any group that formally recognizes her title. In my experience, she's bat-guano crazy, so it may be a product of her condition."

You hate the cheesy voiceover in Cry for Help?

You do understand that that whole quest is about a Rakshasa doing a bad impersonation of a distressed female, right?
