All these 'RAWR PLAY MY WAY' threads do is remind me why I'm content to pug/post my completes instead of being in a top end raiding guild.

And for reference, I've seen Sword of Shadow shards/seals and scrolls go to all sorts of people. Its not unreasonable that people who wouldn't care to grind/farm/buy/mooch temporary augment crystals would have ESOS.

i dont think its about how many times one says anything
i think its how they say it in a public thread and the purpose behind why they said it

Who cares what you're saying, Key, it is what we think you're saying that matters!

Anyways, just for the record, I blame Trap!

Suboptimal... Not too many optiaml toons are going to be running raids in the first place. Why do ToD if you already have all the tod sets you could need?

And each person is going to have their own level of acceptable gimpness. Any melee toon without 3 monk past lives and completionist is doing suboptimal dps. And if you're not tanking, you now need 3 rogue pastlives to not be suboptimal. But who is going to be that demanding?

As far as the rogue in the OP, yeah he was pretty inconsiderate.

There has got to be a Setting between these too.. because I belong there, as I hover between both these sayings almost constantly.

I'd say use what you have available that'll work.

since that I'm a rogue at heart, I lug around an arsenal for every occasion.

I think Key was on the topic that some folks are so inconsiderate as to join groups and make the group wait and carry him/her along while he/she contributes very little to the quest/raid/shenanigans. This is where the Barbarian Principle (patent pending) comes into effect.

To wit, barbarians can a) swing big swords/axes at stuff and b) die. There is no middle ground. If the barbarian cannot swing said swords and axes at stuff, they automatically revert to soulstone form. Now, if your big sword/axe cannot deal damage, you're as good as a soulstone. So, bring many big swords/axes. =D

The rogue solution is relevant to this - bring something along that can help. Rogues can't sneak attack/assassinate elementals - so we bring banishing weapons. We don't have spells, so we bring UMD + heal scrolls + play really, really awesomely so we don't die to the first elite trap we come across (unlike most barbarians).

In short, the dashingly handsome awesome sexy rogue does what is needed to pull the group through. The barbarian just becomes a huge drain on the party's resources. Key is just asking that when you join groups, bring something to help. Be a rogue. Don't be a barbarian.

And when I say rogue and barbarian, I don't mean the classes.

That being said, as a rogue, there's this awesome sense of satisfaction running with folks who bring their best along and do what it takes to get that completion. There's also this awesome sense of satisfaction when the rogue rezzes/heals the divines . But don't we all like seeing *everyone* contribute to the win, instead of being that damned rogue who gives the rest of us a bad name by bring nothing to help?

I'm not an elitist. Far from it. I hate those narrow-minded, one-build-rules-all, only-one-way-to-play idiots. But I believe they've left game, except for a few stragglers. And Key is definitely not one of them. He's just asking us to bring our best and play our best, and not be the anchor dragging everyone down. Personally, I'd just pick up the dude's soulstone and dump it eleven seconds from the shrine. He's a better man - he actually typed down stuff so maybe that'll help folks realize what to bring so that they don't become an eleven-seconds-away-from-shrine soulstone who ran with Sunny.

    Cheers!

There are situations in which a silver weapons buff on a non-DR breaking weapon is superior to a non-silver weapons buff on a DR-breaking weapon, so I'm not sure why you are including their requests for silver in your post. Otherwise I'd agree with you that the person in question was a rather inconsiderate time-waster.

Some of the weapons from caught in the web will surpass a crafted boss beater if given the appropriate buff.

For example - Sireth on a thief-acrobat. No boss beater can complete with a silvered Sireth (which has supreme good but no weapon slots for augments) though I certainly carry one for when there is no arty.

Another example would likely be Pinion, which can be paired with holy or silver arrows, but not both. I don't play any archers, so I've not run the calculations, but based on the uberness of that bow, I would assume it's in a similar situation as Sireth.
