Had the bright idea of testing potion versions of this spell to see if worked any differently. So I spread around some Icy Potions of Chill Shield from past Risia events and can confirm the potion version works properly on my wizard.

(Combat): You are affected by your fire shield (cold version).
(Combat): You are wreathed in flames that do cold damage to attackers and reduce all fire damage taken by half.


and a while later:

(Combat): Your fire shield (cold version) effect has been removed from you.
(Combat): Your fire shield web immunity effect has been removed from you.


Note that the potion didn't mention applying Web immunity (unlike the self-cast spell version I tried in my earlier post), but did mention stripping it upon expiration.

Perhaps the potion is merely designed to emulate the spell, and is its own unique effect, in which case this may not be significant.



I then tried a scroll version (purchased from Portable Hole vendor). This failed to function properly, in the same way as my self-cast version in the earlier post.



After this I tested the potion on the druid. This worked for that character as well.

same bug happened to me yesterday. tried casting fire shield using scrolls - both hot and cold - every single time, it wouldn't work. and not in a UMD failure kinda way. it would cast and then at the very same moment, it would get removed from me. useless. tried the Cloak of Ice... same thing. it would get cast and dispelled at the very same time. and i don't have any gear or ED stuff that would cause this. everything about my toon is the same as it is on live and this bug only happens on lama. it's broken. If it makes a difference, I was on my L25 Dwarf Cleric (Exalted Angel) with no other buffs active. The link to my gear is in my sig.

If this is true then Devs? You may want to fix this before it goes live.

Squeak didn't squeak loudly enough at the devs who could?

or probably they didn't get any bug reports on it. I know I forgot to bug report it, silly me. All my fault.

On a serious note:
I messed with it some more: All casted version now dont work at all. In the early lama build i had it work intermitantly, so it got worse somehow..

White Abishai cookies (cold version) still work, but not the other cookie that does the fire version.. Likely because they are treated as potions, and not spells as the other cookies are.
