Which is better? Using Malchor's Undersun Goggles?

Or leaving them off?

Using them is definitely better while you are exploring the area for the first time. Unless, of course, you enjoy being surprised by the unexpected. Some people do.

Once you've built up a familiarity with the area then leaving them off is fine. I also tend to have something I want on the goggles slot, so I often end up switching ahead of any encounter.

But, with them on you at least know the encounter is coming and can prepare for it.

I don't know, I confess I've never actually used them. I hold onto them for some insane packrat mentality issue in my brain, but have never actually worn them. Now I wnat to go try them out.
