ascension chamber : First timers

Posted an LFM earlier today, but I figure a forum message would be a little more clear.

My husband and I finally finished grinding out all the flagging for the raid. We are jonsing for some of the gear in the ascension chamber, however we never ran it before. I have hardly seen any LFM's up for this raid, and understandably so. Reading some walk throughs and watching some you tube stuff, it's clear that this raid takes a considerable amount of coordination and cooperation to finish. It can be hard to find that in an LFM. And me posting "need guide/party leader" leads one to believe we need babysitting, which is not so, just a bit of knowledge. And I know that's not attractive to many. (I often wonder when I will graduate from newb status, so far it's been almost a year)

The characters we will be doing the raid are lvl 22 artificers.

Would like to find a fun group to do the raid with successfully. IF anyone out there is interested let me know. Until then, see you in game!

I'm in a small guild and will never fill out a raid for most things. If anyone is offering to run through this with some training wheels, I am very interested.

The characters we will be doing the raid are lvl 22 artificers.

You may want to work on getting a silver slinger each while you look for a group.

The main guy you have to beat (the abbot) has a very high DR that can only be beat with blunt weapons. you will do very little damage to him as an arti unless you get this repeater- the only one that has blunted ammunition.

Good luck finding a group I run it sometimes but I don't lead cause I don't know tiles. And tiles is the hardest puzzle to do in there.

I've done it a few times as practice runs. Found out I'm rather good at tiles Anyways. Here's the deal, Asteroids, by all accounts, is broken. Having not been in there I'm only going on what others in my guild have said but it's sad when Tiles and Ice get finished rather easily and 'roids fails. What I'm understanding is that some of them are unbreakable no matter what and some are invisible.

Regardless of that if you throw up an lfm or find me on one of the guys in my signature, I'll be happy to convince my guild to come help you out and show you the ropes. As long as the Guild Leader's in a good mood.

The hubs has that bow, and I have ran the quest the drops it a ton in an attempt to get it. Thanks for the heads up! It will be my new mission.

My "mains" that I'd run abbot with are Bazongas (cleric) and Diaari (wizard). I'm TRing Honkin right now though, so you might have better luck catching me on that toon.

Yes I know it's possible to complete on hard at least. Thats what my channel mates usually run it on.

I didn't even realize 'roids were still borked tho- no one seemed to have any trouble in my runs. I'm usually always in Ice so not sure what the work around is if any.

You can always do some training runs with the two of you.
Step in on normal, beat the abbot down until the puzzles show up, and then step in together in one of the puzzles.
Your chances of completing are very slim, but you will get to try the puzzles firsthand. All of them are doable with two, just with no margin for errors.

As for asteroids being bugged: I've found that the more lag you seem to have, the more trouble you have with destroying or even seeing the roids.
I try to restart my client before abbot to minimize the lag.

Just have 4 people facing eachother on the plataform shooting.

Whaat? Theres still 3 annoying puzzles that require party splitting and a boss thats totaly messed up.Still looks broken to me.Every time i run that raid.I get the feeling theres no way this **** can be WAI :P

I suggest the meteor part for you two.
Only few people use the following, but it works extremly well:
As artis, im sure you have point blank shot. And precise shot as well, with archer's focus.

First, the roids are a simple fps game. Target big meteors come, and you have to throw them with mini meteors. If they hit you, you take 200 damage. Less if you have PRR from armor or destinies.

Later, these mini meteors can be used to free people from the encase spell Abbot uses.
He basically put a huge rock on someone.
Now the important part: these mini meteors are magical bludgeoning weapons that do 200 damage each hit. Take as many as you can.
With point blank shot, thats 400 damage, and with precise shot, it may can go further.
Now i dont have an arti, but maybe deadly weapons works as well. I doubt atm, but if it works, you could hit ~800/hit. If not 400+ still good, every sec.
400dps versus a teleporting skeleton is amazing.

Of course if you are low on meteors, save them for the encase spell.

I will keep an eye on the lfm... When are you planning to try?

I've been planning for a while on doing a few public lfms of just teaching this raid to new people, with many old people no longer running it after obtaining the loot they need, it has become a bit of a dying raid. However with the coming of Eveningstar and the Forgotten Realms, I, like most other people have been forgetting about the old things and focusing on new content.

If you ever want to learn, try to get ahold of me sometime on Devonette (note: I'm anon half the time but try sending me a tell anyways) I won't be able to run it in the next few days due to being on a guest pass for some guildies, but keep an eye out the next few weeks or so for these lfms to be popping up in the evening 8-10 EST??? on Argo.

Guild - Blood Assassin's
Characters - Drpepper, Docpepper (any variation of those names is me in that guild)

We run abbot every saturday and tuesday. The times do vary a lot of when we do run it because it is near the end of our raid train and sometimes we mix up what raids we do.

We almost always have every puzzle covered before we put the lfm up, if not we probably only need 1 person or so for roids or scouting the doors. But, we usually pug out at least 2 spots or more depending on the day. Usually people suddenly have to go when abbot is gonna happen so we usually have more like 2-5 spots open. Now I cannot guarantee you a time to be there for abbot, nor can I guarantee there will always be 2 spots open for you guys, but if I have a few spots and I see you guys on I will gladly invite you even if you are a first timer. 1 other thing though is since we always have the puzzles covered I like to put the leftovers in tiles so they can at least see what it looks like with the goggles and so they actually experience something(running to the other end :P).

If you are not happy with not always given a time or being guaranteed a spot I can show you a few tricks in the raid and teach you how to do a few things.

If enough people were actually interested a scheduled abbot could be done since I cannot otherwise guarantee you the exact times we run it.

Send me a tell in game with you toons names, mail in game, or PM me on the forums here if you want me to show around in the raid or even invite you to the raid if I have spots leftover. (almost always leftover spots) The only requirement in this raid is follow instructions and have curse pots. (I would type instructions in the party chat where I would want you to go, all you have to do is walk in the door :P)

PS same applies to anyone (also I will remove people from the run for discouraging others, being rude etc, only I'm aloud to do that) ^^ I am always willing to help teach in this raid or run this raid whenever - I can keep a list in my bio of people who are interested in running abbot and will look for you if you are on. Just remember I cannot guarantee the times or spots but I will of course check if you are on when our guild runs abbot. ( or if enough people seem to be on or willing to schedule a date, well than I could join u with that)

Saw an LFM up for abbot today, hubs and I joined and this is what we got upon entering...



Told Mentalini, my husband, that 444 hp is a waste of a spot, when we have been questing epic lvl quest no problem. He has a Silver Slinger too, so he can do the blunt damage...

And upon sticking up for him, he proceeds to send me tells are calling me a nub and saying how he wants to see my die instantly.

Was hoping it was one of you cool guys that had posted it.


Guess not.


Hopefully we can get something going this weekend??
