DDO Launcher Hanging Up

My DDO Launcher is hanging up when it gets to "Game Update Progress." Every time I start it, it loads the launcher just fine until it gets to "Installing Prerequisite Software." Here, it takes its normal time, but it doesn't say below that "Installing..." blah, blah, blah; under "Installing Prerequisite Software" is blank. Then, when it gets to "Game Update Progress," it shows "Game Update Progress:" and "Status," but nothing below it. This is where it hangs. I can't press any buttons. The only way I can close it is ending the process.

I am running Win7 x64 desktop. I also have a laptop that runs Win7 x64. The launcher works just fine on this one.

If anyone can be of assistance, please reply.

Update on this situation:

I am reinstalling DDO; maybe that will help.

By the way, I don't know if this makes any difference whatsoever, but I was running the standard res. Now, since I recently upgraded my graphics card, I'm getting the high res.

Perhaps there's some kind of non-compatibility with standard res and my graphics card?

No, your card should not be the problem. I have a similar problem atm , in that since I re-installed ddo after I re-installed win7 it gets as far as you are and then just hangs. Am in the process of re-installing ddo in the (vain) hope of this curing the problem.

Have you installed any new games or security software recently or changed the way you connect to the internet?

This sounds to me like some basic connectivity issue. I assume you can browse the web so you have some basic connectivity.

Then I'd check your firewall and any security software that might also block connectivity.

If that doesn't work I'll ask about running a virus/malware checker and then either your launcher log or .Net 1.1 and 1.1 hotfix.

I finished reinstalling the game in high res. Now, it works.

Willibold, which game version do you run (standard or high res)? If you run standard, perhaps it's a problem with the standard launcher, win7 x64, and update 16??? If not, I'm at a loss.

And My2Cents, the launcher was connecting, I think. Isn't it supposed to connect to "Open Main Form" or something like that?
