Need Laptop Advice

I'm currently shopping for a new laptop, and playing this game is the main thing I plan to be doing with it.

I don't have a lot of money to spend, so I'm looking for one @ around $300-$400.

The two I am looking at right now are

I've tried DDO on this one and while it runs well enough it overheats and shuts down occasionally which oddly doesn't boot me from the game but does cause me to have to restart it so I can't move my character or do anything for a couple minutes.

The second one I am looking at is http://www.walmart.com/ip/Toshiba-Sa...ystem/21684646 which seems to have a worse processor but a better graphics card which I hope will improve my performance and let me avoid the overheating issue.

If anyone could tell me which to purchase or suggest a better alternative that is around the same price I would greatly appreciate it.

just be careful with buying a computer with windows 8, for it appears in the comment section, that there was some problems..
and also be aware, some games don't work for windows 8....

therefore, look what is needed for this game... to see if it works

Have you shopped Newegg? They have a lot of choices in your price range.

I would try to wait until after the 1st of the year and prices go down.
When looking for something to play ddo I would look for at least than 4 gigs of mem

They now cost over $500, the closer to Christmas the more prices will go up.

If you do buy from Walmart be careful.
I will only ever buy from them through paypal.
When I used my debit card I got billed for 2 itunes cards and had $200 tied up for a month until it was resolved.
Plus if you go to Walmart in person to buy they like to bait and switch.
The site will say something is in stock in your local store and when you get there the clerks will say we are out of them but for more we have this.
That happened to me this summer with a 32 inch TV on their site for under $300.
When I get there was told none in stock for that price I could have a 26 inch tv.
I went and complained to the service desk and was told none are in stock.
I went home and bought it online and picked it up the next day for under $300.
When I picked it up I went back to the service desk and found the same employee and said guess what you have them in stock only thing is Corprate Walmart got my money and a complaint about you. Bait and switch is illegal.

Me I would shop around and if possible wait until Jan when you will find some good after Christmas sales.

I would look to spend at least 500-600 dollars for a gaming laptop, if it is overloaded it will overheat.

I would say that Intel video has better longevity than AMD video.

When new features are added to OpenGL Intel updates the drivers to emulate the feature if the hardware can't handle it directly. Performance will degrade as newer games use newer features but at least you are still able to use it.

But AMD will not emulate in the driver so that users are required to update video cards which screws users with embedded video chipsets on laptops.

Video. I have a MSI 2nd gen i5 laptop with Intel HD 3000 graphics and I am running about Mabar at 46 FPS.

ATI and NVidia cards often end up using shared memory too on laptops. In fact if it doesn't list dedicated memory then it is shared memory just like the two in the OP.

I went with the 3rd gen i5, and the Intel HD 4000 graphics. Thanks all for the advice, it really helped!
