Default DDOZ build 8wiz/12monk Monwizbie :)

    Hi,

I have made this build to fit in with my Static/Warforge TR group which I run with. I would love some feedback. I was inspired by AnsharDarkangel Wiz/monk Zombie the "Epic Zombie Dreadnought" Now this guy is in a Mech TR group so I went Warforged for that reason. I will take him to 20 then TR, I want to eat up my monk life. This guy is attempting to get to completionist.

I won't have the top end handwraps but having TR'd multiple times and have the 12/16 Mabar handwraps and docents, I have a Torc, a con/op item and most of the named items which have dropped over the past 6 years. Also what I don't have I can make myself with Canith crafting.

I have changed out some feats and enhancements from AnsharDarkangel's build. First the obvious is I am Warforged and not Halfling. The biggest diff was to remove Extend and Greater Two Weapon Fighting. I have replaced these with Cleave and Great Cleave which will give me regular 1W and 2W attacks.

I was thinking of removing dodge and replace it with Stunning blow but I am not sure if trading the Dodge off for another stun will be worth it.

So please take a look and tell me what you think I am interested in any comments thanks so is the build.

Also here is AnasharDarkangel's build Link to compare

This build has no equipment so its bare bones

I'm working on a 12/8 monk/mage too. I'm level 12 now, and its fun to play.

You ask yourself if you should drop the dodge feat. If you want to take the dark monk PrE, you will need it as it a prerequisite for it.

    From ddowiki :

Requires All of: Improved Jump II, Improved Tumble II, Dodge, Path of Inevitable Dominion: Fists of Darkness

I understand that this is a flavor build and just for funsies etc.

My biggest suggestion of course goes directly against the flavor but i'll toss it out anyways. (maybe you won't like zombie form as much as you think?)

Being warforged, Archmage would probably be a better fit. 8 wizard only gets you 335 Sp, + maybe another 40 from int, 175 from con-op, 200 from archmagi =750 max mana. plenty for haste and displace... not much if you start using maximized firewalls and fireballs. An extra 100 mana might be nice, 205 if you count mental toughness.

If you were a brave soul you could even go 11 monk 9 wiz for lvl 5 spells and archmage-II and net 280 more mana, or you could take SF-conj, SLA grease, SLA web for -100 mana and have 3sp heightened quickened Webs which I cannot speak highly enough about. (seriously the best SLA in game as far as I am concerned)

Anyways, just something to consider If you find yourself wishing for more burst healing or more lvl 4 spell slots (since as a zombie you'll want aura and burst in 2 out of 3 of your lvl 4 slots... leaving only one slot for several juicy choices.)

    Grim

P.S. in your current build you have Empower... You will definately get alot of mana return as a melee wizard, but Empower is still kind of lackluster considering your low mana pool. I suppose you are probably taking it to boost the power of aura for better self healing but I doubt you will be able to afford to use it on very many other spells.

    Default Thanks for the help

Sorry for the delay, got behind the 8-ball with Thanksgiving.

Barak666, Good catch I did not notice the loss of dodge would prevent me from taking the PRE for monk Thanks

Glowbug, Thanks for the imput. Yes I kinda wanted to mix up this build up a little. I am thinking with a Torc and Con/Op goggles I should have an almost unlimited amount of mana, but your points are well taken. Also I don't plan to be doing too much offensive casting, using melee for most of my damage. I will do a little number crunching. Why the level split? Because I want to get the second tier on Ninja spy so I feel the extra sneak damage will be important so I plan to stay at 12/8 on the build. But thanks again.

Just a thought. If you instead went with WIZ12/MNK8 you would gain Tensers Transformation which would be pretty good for this kind of build (Full BAB & +4 alchemical bonus to Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution, a +6 alchemical bonus to Armor Class). You would also gain vampire form which is miles ahead of Zombie form or Wraith form which is also very useful.

But yea you would lose SA and abundant step + some other monk goodies...

@Valakai The OP wants to get a Monk life out of this so has to have enough Monk levels to attain this.

On that note OP I've done this build before on paer its look great but in practice "mechanically" it works great but without Haste your attacks feel sooooooooo slow and even with it your barely hitting standard speed so if your used to haste it still feels a bit slow.

Personally i switched to a wizard12/fighter6/rogue2/LD and its working great but that won't suit your want for a monk life. Your best bet would be to go with the Emerald build or go pure
