    Default Kobold Soul Weapons

Let's have a selection of weapons, one of each weapon type, all of which contain the soul of a kobold. Due to this, the kobold soul within talks and complains alot. All of these weapons will be metalline flametouched iron, but the weapons will be cursed: Every time you hit a kobold, the chance of the weapon talking increases, and every time you kill a kobold, a cursespewing effect is cast on you.

So my rune arm is jumping off my arm because it wants up on the wall? Interesting...

I had a similar idea 2 years ago. I wanted to call it Har Har's Last Laugh.
+5 search +5 spot, club of human bane.
10% that the club would say something when it hit something, and 50% chance of warning of a trap.

Club adorned with the "shaman skull" of course.

So you want a cowardly weapon?

I have DMed and created sentient weapons and armor for my party before. The problem with cowardly items, is that the wielder would have to make a strength or will check each attack every turn to make sure they held control of the weapon. Otherwise they would suffer a pretty steep penalty to attack and had a very likely chance to miss.

That goes for all types of sentient items, there needs to be ability or save checks to keep control of them. One that has bloodlust could even try to stab the user if not controlled.

Nope, I want a lulz weapon, that's all.

I'd also like cursed items, like the "Belt of Femininity/Masculinity" that I found in the game Baldur's Gate ages ago~

Cursed weapons would be incredibly difficult to implement. This game doesn't use the 'detect magic' skill, nor does it require you to identify magical properties on items. So no spellpower check, or identify spell. That being said, a cursed item would plainly state what it does. The closest thing they have to cursed items are 'Unholy' that causes 1 negative level to the wearer and taint of shavarath when you wear 2 uncleansed greensteel.

not exactly. there are items that have "hidden effects". it's not always easy to tell when an item has it, but for example, the bracers of the demon consort are one such item.

edit: another example would be the madstone boots.

Well, in that case let them be implimented differently. "Cursed" items could be items that harm the user, but have powerful buffing effects as well.... or they could be joke items, like a belt that changes your gender when worn, or a weapon that complains when you hit something.

Seriously. We have the wild mage belt that does a random buff, and sometimes forces the target friendly to dance.

Why this idea might not go as planned.
I think Kobold weapons would be a lot like the second weapon shown in the above - but all are pretty annoying.

The I vote a hearty No Thank You, unless you don't have to hear other people's weapons.
I'd not equip one because it'd bug the hell out of me - and I just know there would be somebody who'd use one simply because it'd bug the hell out of others.

Make it so you could only grief yourself... why not? But, if everyone had to endure it - please leave it out of the game.

The eternal cure light wand also bothers people but still provides a use.

Nah, I don't want to bug anyone else.

I would love to make these (and cursed weapons) unbound so they could be given as gifts, though!
