    Default Fix Attack Reach

Any chance you'll fix the part of the game that allows creatures to hit from 10-20 feet away with swords and other melee attacks? It wouldn't be bad if they were using reach weapons (and those were available to PCs), but they aren't, and it's a bit ridiculous.

I'll sign this. I mentioned this once in a thread and other posters basically told me i must be having a lag problem or something. It's not lag. I noticed it back when i very first started playing the game, that dodging stuff isn't what it looks like it should be, the collision detection bares little resemblance to the actual animation. The worst i've had was when i was kiting some wolves with an archer and they were consistently hitting me from at least 20 feet away. With their little paws.

The other thing you might notice is that the collision detection is pretty good when it comes to determining the range of YOUR weapons. So it's not like it's beyond their technical capabilities. I sometimes wonder if they didn't make it this way on purpose just to add challenge.

Doubt this will ever actually be changed, as it's been like this forever, and i never really see anyone mention it.

Spent the last 6 months playing this game with latency consistently above 500ms.

Got very used to "leading the target" with my attacks, and to expecting mobs to actually be much closer than they appear.

I had the problem you describe in spades.

Fixed my network recently, and latency is back down to green all the time (50-150ms range). It's like a new freakin' game

I no longer suffer from mobs with super-long invisible arms. They're normal again.

    What's your latency run at?

    right around 100

Also want to add that i have no issues with myself hitting mobs. Maybe i don't understand how it works, but it seems if it was a lag or latency problem it would work both ways.

If it really is something that is affecting me but not everybody, i'd love to know what it is. If it is something that can be adjusted on my end it would be worth doing, providing it doesn't involve scrapping the computer.

This is because the game keeps track of your moves as they arrive to the server.
With a little knack you can blind-fight during lag spikes, if you don't freeze.

The mobs hwoever run unimpeded at top speed no matter what, so they tend to go ahead on the action.
Blocking at the first sign of lag can save your life.

I was wondering if the reason i get hit by things at great distances is something like this. When the game decides it's going to try to hit me, it marks my position, and stops accounting for my movement. The mob however, continues to chase me, and the game gives it credit for the movement it makes between the time it marks me for an attack and when the attack actually registers as a hit, allowing the mob to close the gap in the games' eye, even if in real time what i see looks like i am still far away from it.

I just don't know. All i know is that the crazy mob attack range thing that i, and probably the op are talking about is 100% constant. It happens when there is absolutely no visible sign of lag on my end. They just have way to big of a range for what they should have visually. I also find that they seem to be able to hit within quite a large arc around themselves, by which i mean that they can hit me when i'm flanking them, when i wouldn't be able to hit them if the positions were reversed. I estimate their hit range is about 300 degrees around themselves. Only being absolutely directly behind them prevents them from registering a hit.

I'd like to get someone to go into pvp and test this with me. If it turns out that another player can't hit me the way mobs can, i'm going to be satisfied that it's just the way the game is programmed, and not related at all to lag or latency.
