    Default is anyone using a laptop similar to mine..

    Is anyone using a laptop similar to mine, and it is working ok?
    what settings are you using if it is ?

    I know from reading the specifications for game just now, mine is suitable `other than I'm only 1 G ram, not 2 G;
    and perhaps Win XP is no longer the best to use?

    I have an older laptop,
    am using a cooling fan pad,
    I'm not a laptop wiz, but this is what I know;

    Dell Inspiron XPS M1710
    Centrino IntelCore duo
    NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GTX
    Running XP
    997 MHz 1.GB Ram
    Direct X9

    I have a 105 G drive, with 52 G free yet,

    are you having any difficulties?
    I will lower my resolution in game, try that,
    but I do not want to fry my machine.

    (game is auto set itself high res.) as I had clicked 'detect settings' ingame.

    if it is not recommended to play on it,
    which model / type and specs
    laptop would anyone recommend for me?

    thank you..

    1GB is a bit on the light side. According to Crucial.com converting to 4GB would be under $60.

    Another thing I'd do would be to blow out all of the vents. While having a laptop panel to sit it on is a good idea, it will still suck in airborne dust which will eventually begin to hinder airflow.
