If someone were to make a new account and put up racial, sexual, and hate LFM's, couldn't Turbine ban their IP? I personally find it annoying that someone keeps putting these up and sending tells before their account is shut down.

Question, would it be hard for Turbine to ban an IP? I find it hard to believe that it is more than just one person, as this person only attacks certain people/guilds.

It may be that after a certain amount of bannings, Turbine might do an IP ban. If the harassment is bad enough, you might be able to contact an outside authority (police, etc.) if it falls under cyberbullying or hate speech or something like that. Having the police come and seize your computer and threaten fines or jail time tends to get people to stop these sort of things.

Banning an IP is easy, if that person got a dynamic IP the ban would be pretty useless though..

No need to use Tor if your provider doesn't give you a static IP..Your provider will always know who you are, but the others will just see a different IP

In a FPS game i used to play there were 3 kinds of ban from servers: IP, MAC address and player GUID..the only reliable one was player GUID, cause if your GUID was banned you had to do a new account to play in those servers. MAC and IP ban were quite easy to avoid

I was just curious if it was a hard problem to fix, or if Turbine is turning yet another blind eye to something.

My 2 cp: His LFMs were funny/cute once. Not anymore. Its just the same <insert explicative> repeated beyond the bounds of decency. Its time for Turbine to put the cat down.

sadly this is a problem with "free to play", when getting banned for harassing someone is worked around by simply creating another free account to continue harassment...

They need to do an investigation if someone is harassing and creating new accounts just to do so.

hes really easy to kill in PvP which is always funny...I think he likes it though...one time he told me to come to PVP and when I dropped in ....a gimp with a ball gag was standing there...royal guard mask for the win!

Suggestion like this are why the US leads the world in prison population even though we only make up 5% of the world population.

I also find it odd that somehow that makes my statement less valid. Are you one of those "more government will solve everyone's problems" kind of person? Turbine needs to police their own game bringing government into something as silly as a mmo just adds to a bigger problem.
