    Default Looking for a level 8 farming build

    I have 32 point builds and all races.
    I am looking for a build that won't ever go past level 8 and will only be used for farming challenges.
    Anyone have a great low level build for me?

    WF fire sav sorc with purple ioun stone, some good one handed combustion/fire lore weapons or even better weap + buckler.

    I'd probably go human with tier 2 dragonmarks. Dimension door is so vital to efficient challenge farming it would be silly to not include it. So either caster or human. Due to the length of the lower level challenges I'd stay away from casters as they have to potentially stop and shrine. I'd have to do some serious testing but it feels as though the scaling for casters is higher than for melee, meaning a melee will have fewer things with less HP to kill. Speed is key so barbarian or monk seem logical choices. Sprint boost gives the edge to either barb or monk/ranger multi. Barb can cleave and great cleave better than a monk/ranger so that would be my choice. Splash a couple levels of fighter for haste boost for the named encounters and you're set.

    Barb6/Fighter2 - Human

    Feats
    1 Toughness
    1 (human bonus)Least DM of Ex retreat
    1 (fighter bonus) Power attack
    3 Cleave
    6 Lesser DM of D Door
    8 (figher bonus) Great Cleave or imp crit or whatever. This one is open.

    You can take frenzied berserker 1 if you want even more dps for boss encounters, but you're not likely to need it really. Just run as fast as you can from one place to another, stopping to cleave when necessary.

    Edit: Was just wondering. If you have barb and ranger levels can you get 2 sets of sprint boost for 10 uses total? That might be enough for me to drop a barb level for ranger if it works that way.

    Sorry for the threadjack, but: why would you make a build for farming only lvl 8 challenges? Is that like the "sweet spot" for raw ingredients or something? Just curious, I'd never bothered thinking about it before...

    I'd say that in general the lower level you can do any particular challenge at, the greater your ingredient rewards will be. As you raise the challenge level, the hp of the mobs tends to increase at a greater rate than your dps (especially on a melee with little to no AOE effects). For this reason, you can make your farming life easier by doing it as low as you can. Because of the extreme power of Dimension Door for challenges, level 7 is what I would call the minimum cutoff (level 8 if sorc and you then have no other level 4 spells). The 4 mid level challenges start at level 8 so that's likely the first sweet spot. If you're looking for low level ingredients as easily as possible, that would be the reason.

    A level capped level 25 toon has to do a challenge at level 25 to break even on rewards. A level 8 toon can run many levels above, especially if solo due to scaling, and blow through it without skipping a beat.

    I'd consider pushing level to 9 (Extra Feat) or 10 (SoS). Some sort of a battle wizard might also work well, high STR, high Con, mid Int, Haste, displace, DDoor Firewall. Maybe 1 FTR 7 Wiz for the extra feat, and evocation spec AM for extra DC.

    I've been experimenting with solo Challenge farmers recently; then I remembered this thread and thought I'd kick up some ideas to see what sticks. My initial goals were mobility, self-sufficiency, and DPS, preferably with minimal twink gear, as this would be on a new-ish server for me (got one lvl 18 & one lvl 16, the rest are below lvl 9). Then I thought it would be nice to have a pet I could park somewhere to stand guard (e.g., the kobold HQ in the mines or one of the extractors on the island) while I ran off and did other things.     The Passage DMs are for the mobility (Exp. Retreat & DDoor); Augment Summons is mostly for buffing my dog; Power Atk & Maximize are for the added DPS, naturally (the latter is saved for rednames). I went Season's Herald primarily for Spring's Resurgence: the idea being to buff my pet then park him on guard duty; SR+wolf Feed+Life Shield of Invulnerability outfit gives him a fair bit of survivability while I'm away. Lvl 8 adds Winter Wolf for better melee DPS (Takedown is great fun too); Shrike I provides replenishing temp SPs to help power spells. Lvl 9 adds lvl 5 spells, which has lots of goodies: for this build, Firewall & Cold Breath for DPS; or Animal Growth + Pack Aptitude to further buff my pet (depending on whether they stack). It feels weird not having Toughness on one of my toons, but feats are tight and with +4 CON & IFL I should have ~150 HPs which ought to be enough at that level (knock on wood).

    Early days so far (only lvl 7), but I've had fun so far. Main drawback is low-ish burst DPS, so fights take longer than I would like. A WF sorc could doubtless one-shot things better, but wouldn't have a pet for guard duty.
