    Default Error 40000 - need a smart person to weigh in

    So after a year of updates never had a problem logging in with the client until this most recent update

    i get this error message

    System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80010105): The server threw an exception.
    at PatchWrapper.CPatcherClass.UseTime()
    at com.turbine.launcher.Services.Patcher.UseTime()

    running windows 7, I have administrator privledges, firewall is set properly to allow all the exe files as suggested in the turbine support page. re-installed the .Net Framework 1.1. basically did everything suggested on the turbine support page.

    the only way i can get the launcher to work properly is to go into the preferences of Turbine Invoker and set to run as an administrator. I dont know if that causes long term problems, but I know its not the normal way of starting up

    what am I missing??????????

    Possibly " Windows users with desktop shortcuts pointed to "dndclient.exe" may experience a launcher error. Ensure that your shortcuts are pointed to "turbinelauncher.exe" instead."

    Red face Similar login problem

    Last night I was switching between toons and in the process the game crashed - since then I have not been able to log back in. I get this error:

    *** Update Error 15-11-2012 18:12:03
    15-11-2012 18:12:03
    An error occurred while updating the game.

    I have checked the basic stuff like which file is used, firewall settings etc, but all still seems fine. I can get in if I run it as administrator too.

    Was able to sort out guildie's problem by renaming the Turbine folder under APPDATA and letting it recreate, on win7 and 8 its %userprofile%\Appdata\Local\Turbine, i think on XP that would be %userprofile%\Application Data\Turbine but can't confirm. There are two application data folders in a profile in XP, if it isn't that one it is the other one.

    Default Preloaded Patches

    I get the same error.I have been combing the support forums for answers but am running out of options.

    System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80010105): The server threw an exception.
    at PatchWrapper.CPatcherClass.UseTime()
    at com.turbine.launcher.Services.Patcher.UseTime()

    I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game, copying backup files over to the main folder and restarting....I get to a screen with 15,000 files called preloaded update. It's when it gets to the end, that the launcher kicks the error.

    Has anyone found a solution yet? Thanks.

    This error can occur because the patcher/updater can encounter errors when updating config files.

    This error occured for me during the previous update, the updater didnt like my config files for some reason.

    quick fix: (quick an dirty)
    1. remove all files related to ddo under the user directory.
    2. launch as admin.

    To fix. (with some kind of surety)
    1. completely remove DDO from your system, uninstall, registry settings, user data.
    2. restart pc.
    3. download again and install. make sure to have toy AV program switched off.

    This problem occurs because some of us had config files that the parser for the updater wasnt expecting.
    - eg, aliases.
    - saved layouts.
    - manualy set graphics options that no longer exist, eg animation speed.

    These config files are located under the user directory.
