    Talking Acrobat feedback requested

I'm toying with the idea of starting a halfling acrobat and I would like a litle feedback on what I have so far. I started reading the thread at http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php...hlight=acrobat already. Is there anything I'm obviously missing?

    Thanks!

It would help if you stated what your goals of the build are. The stat allocations look ok, but other than that I can't comment.

a 1 druid splash (if available) is also a popular choice. not sure how much you're using the 3rd monk level, but 1 druid can add ram's might and shillelagh, both of which are nice damage adders.

Oops! Goals for the build are:

    1) good DPS
    2) survivable when soloing
    3) have fun with the Acrobat PrE
    4) minimal reliance on tomes
    5) must be a halfling (the master race! <grin>)

I went 17 rogue/3 monk so that I can easily LR and add an 18th rogue level when Acrobat III finally comes out. My initial thought was indeed 13 rogue/6 monk/1 druid.

The other minor goal I had was to have a somewhat high haggle score, although haggle as a skill is not really all that important.

    Default skill focus?

The first thing that sticks out to me is using one of your few precious feats on skill focus UMD. As a rogue you should have plenty of UMD anyway, and that feat could go to great cleave, which is one of the best feats in the game IMO.

My next thought is more monk levels give some nice benefits. If you take 6 levels you get another free feat, adept of wind, a monk PrE (if you want one), monk wis II, some extra AC, speed, etc. 7 gets you self healing, improved recovery II. So you should think about a deeper splash than 3 levels (you'd have to give up 2D6 sneak damage and 1 special ability).

Not sure I'd bother with cunning unless you're having trouble hitting. Is this intended to be a str build or dex build? My guess is human or helf would serve you better, but of course that isn't an option if you're playing a themed character.

Go TWF. You will do so much more DPS it won't even be funny, and you will get WAY more out of your Fists of Light.

It would also be better to go human, but that's the molehill to TWF/THF's mountain.

Good advice! I ditched the UMD feat for Great Cleave. Looks like I needed to be just a hair more clear on build goals though. I want this to be a staff wielding acrobat, so THF is more appropriate. I know --- I'm giving up DPS, but that's what I want to try. Who knows? Maybe by the time I'm leveled up, Turbine might fix the thief-acrobat PrE. <grin>

Any other suggestions are entirely welcome! Thank you!

I see people recommend ditching the qstaff and going TWF on an acrobat. I have to strongly disagree. If you're gonna go twf then just go assassin. Way more powerful with twf than an acrobat. Stick with the qstaff for the attack speed bonus, which stacks with haste AND rogue haste boost! The math works out to +60% attack speed bonus with all three going (I admit the haste boost is short term though).

In my opinion you should stick with qstaff and make sure you grab rogue haste boost 4. Get haste and haste boost going, combined with the bonus for your PrE, and you'll look like a freaking helicopter. My guildmates used to love to watch me trash the training dummy.

My acrobat was half-orc for max STR and 2 handed fighting enhancements. As a matter of fact I'm getting ready to TR him again tonight. First life he was part fighter for kensai I (qstaff) and fighter STR enhancements. This time I'm thinking about going pure in anticipation of the enhancement pass (thief acrobat III!!!) but the druid spell shillegei (I know I spelled that wrong) has me thinking about multiclassing a little bit. Decisions.....

This is all well and good, but you still only get 1 sneak attack per swing when the TWFer gets 1.8. Assassin is more raw DPS than Acrobat, yes, but therefore going THF on Acrobat is throwing out the baby with the bathwater.

The same principle applies even more with a monk splash (and even moreso with Fists of Light). The enhanced staff is barely faster than TWF, it's got no chance against unarmed.
