Fighting Staff

I'm looking for recipe ideas for a rogues fighting staff, any suggestions?

what level?

for most of the game, imo at least, there are named staffs that you want to use.

earliest one i can think of is from 3 barrel cove... chieftain's spear i think. probably level 4, and can be bought (binds on equip iirc). you may also like the staff of nat gann if you have chronoscope (i prefer the 3bc one though).

next up, there's a nice one in the red fens; souleater. it's got bodyfeeder, and is +4, both of which are nice. the slay living proc on a vorpal is just the icing on the cake.

at level... 12 i think it is, you can start using the shadow staff from lordsmarch plaza. you can buy these (upgraded) from other players as well, and they come in petrifying, bodyfeeder, infectious... hmmm... one other?. can't remember what it has extra. maiming maybe? anyways, this one is great because it helps you stay alive, especially if you get a bodyfeeder one. finding someone who has a completed one for sale may be a challenge if you don't own the pack to farm it yourself.

after that, we start getting into the btc stuff... dreamspitter is nice, greensteel is of course wonderful, breeze from the abbot raid, rahl's might from inspired quarters, alchemical quarterstaves, and of course there are some epic ones you may enjoy as well.

this is not to say that there are no useful random lootgen/crafted quarterstaves... for one thing, there's always bta ones that break metal DR, paralyzing can be nice as well, and you can even make a full vampiric/bodyfeeder quarterstaff as i recall. but overall, there are quite a few very very nice named quarterstaves in the game. well, very nice for quarterstaves anyways.

one that i would recommend is a ghost touch QS of greater incorporeal bane though. make sure it's at least +1, most incorporeal creatures have very high DR on elite.

Currently he's only a level 4, but this a longterm character (i hope, i have another toon that flamed out after TR'ing), I noticed the named staffs, and i do have nat's staff (thanks to another toon), but wanted something as a general all purpose stick to use.

the 3bc quarterstaff is pretty nearly all-purpose.
