noob question: whats meant wiht BB? (not bladebarrier or waht hu?) like BB/streak...i dont get it :O
Hi I'm on Khyber usually daily from 4 p.m. to around midnight eastern time zone and there is usually about four or five groups per level range appropriate to quest levels at any given time from my perspective and I'm always looking. Hope this helps and if I'm on send a tell and ill / we'll get something going level 25 sorcerer named Kellyssss if not level appropriate send a tell anyways just to say h or ask any questions you may have. Good luck
Real name is Kelly and I play on Khyber in game known as Kellyssss. Been playing for 8 years and I've seen a lot of changes and I'm still here. Quit your whining people my ears are bleeding. Proud guild leader of "onlydidthissoicanusecertainitems."(All one word some people will never know what this means but lots will get the joke
You know what I've found to be a good indicator of server activity?
Auction House.
At first seems nonsensical, but after you think about it for awhile it makes perfect sense. And whatever anomolies that might exist in the calculation also exist for other servers as well, so it all evens out.
Do a blank search on all items. It returns a number. The higher the number, the more (likely) activity on that server. Easiest way.
I haven't checked in a long while, like over a year, but last I checked Khyber was on top, followed by Orien and Thelanis.
However at the time I chose Orien since, as a newer server, I found things to be a bit more relaxed there in regards to pugs and grouping. I'd wager Khyber is probably still the best atm.
Hope that helps.
Thelanis seems to be busy any time of day. I get on week days/ends and at all sorts of time of the day. There is always something in whatever lvl range I am playing. I also create LFMs and they fill pretty quickly, even the ones that I say I have no clue, doing hard, no zerg![]()
Orien a good draw; the others are also ok, but hit and miss
I rotate servers alphabetically, because I used to do favor farming and it is an easy way to find a pug, if one is not availabe on xyz server. Just switch to another server, try a new character, and see if there are any pugs. If not, then move on to the next server. One that absolutely NEVER has any is the W server... the (DE) one... strange I can't recall; so, what I do is set group options to public and just run solo. I actually got a couple of pickups that way. People like the public quests, where you just join and don't have to be accepted.
I find the BB to be rather silly. An obvious ploy to encourage VIP subscribing but in reality discourages questing in general. If there is no pug for my level I just move on to a different server or a different game, meaning if there is no elite BB pug, or at least a 'elite opener requested'. I simply don't bother to do any quest on normal or hard. I want the favor. I don't want to farm for exp. I have no desire to TR. I am looking forward to unlocking FS and ARt on all servers, eventually. All i need is the elite favor. The rest is redundancy. I hope they fix this somehow, someday.
What do you think?
Cannith crafting kinda throws this out, as a lot of people decon most, if not all, of the stuff they get. I Decon everything I pull on my crafter. On top of that, Some don't bother playing the AH game, and just vendor everything. I used to post dozens of items a week that I thought would be useful to a newbie, but I quit doing that some time ago. Still more (like a guildy of mine) throws everything into the guild chest.
Still, since Cannith Crafting came in, the brokers and AH have been somewhat dead on Khyber, compared to before where I could buy anything I needed or wanted in a few moments of searching, with some choice in price usually, unless I was looking at stuff like Holy Silver/Metalline or useful Greater Banes.
I have noticed a further drop since MotU, but I somewhat chalk that up to the crafters taking the useful 'epic' stuff and rebuilding it to taste, mostly weapons. Since 99% of my AH browsing has been on 21+, I don't know if there's anything different in the lower levels.

since crafting has been introduced, the brokers really have been sorta useless. i used to run out to Amrath and sell my loot (free gh) and while there, i would skim through and see if there were any useful weapons/armors to upgrade what i had on a less geared toon or tr leveling. most times, they are empty.
the ones in House D and K are ok sometimes, but its rare to find something really good.
Pretty much the only brokers I ever bothered with has been House D and now Eveningstar. Even when I first started, Shav and Reavers didn't have much in the brokers. IQ sometimes did, since it's a TR grind spot, but lately it's been kinda dry as well.
I'll admit that I rarely look for armor, but I was able to pick up some Convalescent of Superior Stability for my Bard. Makes my cure crits hit very, very nicely.
It's definitely not good for the newbies, since they can't really find stuff like you used to when I started. Sure, prices were often outright extortion on the AH, but still...
I think I'm going to start back to posting stuff. I get more plat than vendoring or deconning, and I have no shared bank space on a good day anyway. Maybe I can help someone out with a decent-priced item.

there still is some activity, whatever the server
a lot of people buy cheap stuff on the ah to deconstruct for the essenses
i post stuff on the server for cash, but I am not a high level player yet; still learning but not a newbie; i don't really enjoy the crafting grind; posting on the ah is grind enough for me
i think i will start deconstructing the stuff that doesn't sell the first time, rather than reposting to ah; seems like a decent compromise and I don't have to undercut prices
one thing I am disatisfied with is the default pricing of the items based on level; i think there is also some weight given to the rarity of the item and possibly the quality, or quantity of enhancements it possesses... is this correct?
the ah is so spare that no real price can be determined except what is given by the vendor AI, +/- a little wiggle room, based on server activity; more items = lower price; less items = higher price; but still centered on the basic price of the item by level
this seems an overly simplistic model; i think we can do something more mature with this; perhaps we can manufacture derivatives based on conglomerates of junk items packaged as a single item? then we sell shares of that larger package and reap the rewards when a sale is finally made, or we can continue to recapitalize and increase our ledgers indefinitely
is there some ah model you would like to see? or just a small change?

Hi Bran, if you want to see the most populated server, I found out that yourddo is very good tool for it. you can see in dynamic guild list section the no of officers and members of guilds on each server (tho the no of unguilded players you wont see). now it is under reconstrustion but few days ago I was bored and checked it out of curiosity - the most populated server was Thelanis (imo you know it) and I think the second one was Ghallanda (if I remember right there were about 5k more players in guilds than on Khyber). I know that this has nothing to do with lfms or player activity.
