    Default Build Help

I am a bit of an altiholic. I have 8 characters (All but one at 20)

    - Human PM
    - Drow Exploiter build ranger(Will TR To Human after enhancement pass)
    - Big Rock Candy Mountain build WF THF
    - Rockin Robin build halfling dark monk
    - Helf artificer focused on xbows, bb and rune arm (not a crafter)
    - Classic Rocker build Warchanter Bard
    - Evoker build FVS
    - Caster build Druid

I am looking to use my 9th slot now rather than TR one of the above. I just finished TRing my PM and fizzled out at about 18 and 19. Now he's 20 again with EDs, but not looking for a TR right yet. I have access to all races and classes and will be starting him out as a 32 build.

So I've narrowed it down to 2 classes I want to play and I know they are both different.

    1) I have always been intrigued by clerics. I love the RS Aura and bursts as a melee on the receiving end. However I am not sure I want to be solely a healer. On my FVS I like stacking dots and BB-ing trash. What I am bummed about is that my melee dps with sword and board kind of sux on him leaving me wonder why i even both melee-ing with him.

That leaves me with 3 options for cleric

    a) Clonk - I have been reading about clonks since I rolled my first character, but still haven't made one. I always remember seeing them at lower levels, but then when I get to 20 (and now Epic Levels) I never see any. So that leads me to question if they are still viable at high and Epic levels.

    b) Fighter splash - I've seen a few threads on these, but they are so spread out I never get a definitive answer on the best way to build one. S&B or THF. Plus since the AC changes I'm not sure which builds are viable.

    c) Pure - Again though I don't want to limit myself to standing there and just healing all the time, I recognize that at some times it will be needed like on raids for the better or the party. That I'm ok with. However if for any of the two above I'm doing negligible melee damage anyways then I ask myself what's the point of splashing if I'm doing next to no dps when I could focus on just healing/casting.

    2) Sorcerer - I've seen some really nice nuke 'em WF sorcs out there. I don't think I've ever posted damage close to one on any of my other characters so they intrigue me as well.

So I know I'm kind of all over the place. I'm hoping someone will take a look at my current builds and get a feel for what I like and help me make a decision. If it turns out the a cleric and a sorc both meet my needs and I can't decide I'll buy another slot and make two .

What I'm looking for is some builds. As mentioned I have access to all the packs, races and classes. I know some suggest human or HElf for cleric splashes so I can do those. I've love to hear some advice and pour through some builds in a single place, i.e. this thread.

    Thanks in advance.

I love my 19/1 Cleric Fighter. I go THF with Cleave and Great Cleave. I max str instead of Wis (lvl ups in str). I max Light spell and healing enhancements. I try to get plenty of healing amp.

Her DPS is decent, but not on par with Barbs or Fighters. I am working my way to Legendary dreadnaught which I think will give me a big boost to DPS.

I carry around some a second set of gear oriented toward healing when I go into raid situations and good DPS comes from other viable sources other than me.
Leader of Legion of Eberron on Cannith.

    Characters: Loromir & Baldomir....among others.

Other then running cleric past lives, I havent truly played a cleric aka much time and thought and gearing, since Amrath went live. Ive done a few sorcs though and I find the earth savant and water savant to be my favorites. Sorcs are wonderful characters that can nuke beautifully but also utilize cc/insta kill spells as well. Id vote try on a sorc. Ive always had fun with them. The cleric lives I ran were fealt a tad underwhelming compared to a fvs of equal level in terms of saves/spell points example I found soloing on a fvs a lot easier than on a cleric. I did however have some fun in undead type quests where bursts and turn undeads were very effective and pretty fun to use.

1a) Clonk melee DPS is not incredible. However, it works on everything, has great synergy with healing between your Aura and your Healing Curse, and doesn't undermine party DPS the way kiting does. Even if you go all out caster your arsenal just isn't varied enough, in a lot of cases you'll just be reduced to Divine Punishment, and you can do that just as well as a puncher.

    2) WF sorcs are just crazy fun, especially if you expect to solo a lot: dungeon scaling keeps your unmatched direct damage advantage more viable for longer. You're just a wrecking ball, hammering through content. You're immune to the Holds most monsters use, you're absolutely immune to level drain, you're still essentially immune to Poison and Disease, you can Repair yourself forever.

    .

    Builds!

    Clonk

    Stats
    Half-elf
    Str 14
Dex 15 (needs 2 from some combination of tomes and levelups)
    Con 14
    Int 8
Wis 14 (with a +6 item you'll have enough to cast all your spells)
    Cha 14

Leveling order: 1 cleric, 3 monk, rest cleric

    Feats
Level 1: Empower Healing & Monk Dilettante
    Level 2: TWF
Level 3: Spell Penetration & Toughness
    Level 4: Light side
    Level 6: Maximize
    Level 9: Improved TWF
    Level 12: Heighten
    Level 15: Quicken
    Level 18: Greater TWF
    Level 21: Greater Spell Pen
    Level 24: Epic Spell Pen
(A lot of the casting feats are useless when you get them, but the BAB requirements make it hard to get the TWFs earlier.)

    Enhancements
    Radiant Servant 2
    Smiting and Life Magic 4
Improved Recovery Human 2 and Half-elf 2 (be sure not to take the regular Monk, because it locks you out of the half-elf "monk")

    .

    Sorc

    Stats
    Str 12
    Dex 8
    Con 18
    Int 10
    Wis 8
    Cha 16 + levelups

    Feats
    1 Toughness
    3 Maximize
    6 Heighten
    9 Empower
    12 SF: Conjuration
    15 Quicken
    18 Spell Pen
    21 Greater SP
    24 Epic SP

    Enhancements
7/5/5 in your Savant element (I like Cold)
7/1/1 in two other elements (I like Acid and Electric)
    1/0/0 in everything else
    Savant 3
    Improved Maximize 2
Some balance of Cha and Spell Pen, can be tough to get 3 in both unless you shave off a little from your tertiary element, which is fine
