Alright yall. Title gives the just of it but here's a more detailed explanation. Ive tried to load up my client several times now on the Khyber server and every time I crash after the game goes through the loading screen. Blue load bar reaches end but when client attempts to bring up the character screen i get the dndclient.exe has crashed message from windows. Game was working fine last night and I'm thinking today's maintenance did something to my client. Is this a simple reinstall or some accidental driver incompatibility issue as a result from the maintenance? Here's my DXDiag:

Attempting uninstall reinstall now. Will take a few hrs to reDL the game and see. Was thinking maybe pando was jacked up which it was as far as my firewall goes now. Had to disable it to DL the client even though pando was allow for all. Tried running client with firewall off but no change there so gonna try reinstall...

I'm having the exact same problem. It was fine last night and started after the servers came back up today. Everything loads until right before the character select screen should pop, then the client crashes. I've made sure all drivers are up-to-date and I've tried a fresh install. Nothing has worked. Out of ideas, I'm now attempting to download through Steam to see if that makes any difference, though I have no idea why it would. Since two of us have this problem since the servers came back up, perhaps tech support can think of something that might have changed to cause this.

Had some crash issues this morning (was playing fine last night) so did a clean install of Nvidia drivers (since that needed doing anyways) and now:
1.LOG in to DDO
2.goes to "choose world"
3. ?
4. NO PROFIT!
DDO launcher just disappears when I find it on the bottom tab it just starts updating fresh and [start at step #1]
Client never loads, just disappears
(Playing Guild Wars 2 perfectly fine, so just going back to that for the weekend, sorry Mabar would have been fun...)~Thus we are met, in a time that is no longer a time, at a place that is no longer a place, for we are between the worlds and beyond.~

I had some time to sit down today and look through the event logs. It seems, for me, that awesomium.dll is causing the crash. This is used for the in-game browsers, and was probably updated with the "store maintenance". DDO will not launch without the program, so hopefully this helps come up with a solution, if any of the tech support is actually reading this :P

I'd wait till Mabar settles on stable orbit, the bigger issue may keep the devs busy.
There's indeed a few performance problems that have seeming popped up in the last week.
Includes some DC'ing and these crashing issues, along with a fair bit of unusual lag.

I dont know how much of the community is affected by this bug or whatever but it would be nice if they responded before the end of mabar so we could participate. With the new lv22 and 24 gear this year itd be nice to have a chance to get them instead of having to wait til next year. Its things like this that made me quit for 6months before i came back round 3wks ago or so. been over 12hrs on the ticket with no reply and 24hrs now on this post with no reply. I can understand them not replying 90% of the complaints and stupid common sense questions that hit this board but not responding to something that isn't letting part of the player base even access a game they pay good money for is ridiculous

Have you tried switching back to DX9 to see if that helps?
Since you can't get into the game engine, you'll need to either do it from the
Launcher (Repair->Reset Game Display Settings), or move off your existing
Userpreferences.ini

They at least got some attention, but the last post by tech support mentioning Sendori doesn't apply to me, because I don't have it installed.
If I had to guess, the problem is that when they did the store maintenance, they installed a different version of Awesomium (it's a Chrome wrapper that handles the in game browser) and there is now a conflict between the new version and either a program or registry instance. I have cleaned my registry, deleted every instance of Google and Chrome from the registry (something that was suggested on another game site that has this problem), uninstalled the game, reinstalled the game, uninstalled Chrome, reinstalled Chrome, tried different versions of Awesomium.dll... and a host of other things. If we continue under the assumption that there's a conflict between awesmium.dll and a registry instance, is there anything I can do to figure out the conflict? If not, the only thing left is for Turbine to revert back to a previous version of Awesomium or allow the game to load without it.

The problem is specifically with awesomium.dll.
under DX9 and DX10/11, so there were some instances where using DX9 gave
folks some relief (not in DDO/LOTRO, but other games). I figured if that worked,
it might give folks some breathing room, and DX10/11 has caused other problems
in the past. Worth a shot, anyway.

I'll also point out that if you ever do try a reinstall, try a different folder than the one you have used previously. It sometimes helps, though I have my doubts it will with this issue.

Ive also tried all the stuff jalont has with no success. And on my end at least I know theres no conflict with google chrome because I've never installed or used it on this comp. Im still at a loss and still waiting on tech support to reply here or to my ticket which has yet to be answered with even a "were looking into it." Oh and fun observation... I love how tech replies to a question about the awesomium within a few hrs but when it causes crashes to a point where people cant even access the game they stay oddly quiet. Not even a "we realize theres a problem" or something. I can understand they got their hands full with lotro but they do have another major game that deserves attention too do they not.

Still nothing for the ticket. I suppose we wait til monday when they fix it with the "scheduled maintenance" without a single word to the community

I hope it is fixed on Monday. I've never had technical issues with DDO before. Is this common, stealth fixes without even an acknowledgement that they are aware the problem exists? I hope for the best, but this seems to be a specific problem targeting only certain people across their games. I wonder how they can find the conflict without actually talking to anyone who is faced with it? Perhaps they'll simply revert what they did during the last maintenance. Originally Posted by Lucarr

They do stealth fixes/changes all the time. Half the time it seems their "scheduled maintenance" is just a way for them to do the stealth updates without having to say what they did. I'm almost positive they know exactly what caused the problem and they just don't want to admit it. I just hope they extend mabar as a good will measure for those of us who have missed it due to the problem
