There is no reason to assume they would include it for free. You can buy the NC seperately or they could sell an additional new type of heart that bundled in the name change (same for gender really). It's a non issue, well, except that it would probably make Turbine more money.

My thoughts also, you can get a True Druidic Heart of Wood for 1495TP or a True Druidic heart of Wood + gender for 2495TP (as an example).

Some would say money grab. I'd say a way to keep this game financed.

Gender changing is a troupe within D&D.

Ah yes, I remember doing that to someone with a cursed item way back in the AD&D days (before it had edition numbers)

Just guessing, but it can be tied to a mere technical issue. Maybe sex acts as a part of the primary key in the game database. If you do a name change, you will notice the server replies something like "name successfully changed to XXXX(M)".

Would be silly to include in the name when you could just have a gender column...

Two things.

1) Silly it may be, but none of us have any clue how they use the data in the database.
2) never underestimate the power of stupidity, and by side effect, never underestimate the eventual unintended abuse of systems.

Agree. This is something I'd pay TPs for, or pay extra TPs to be able to do when TRing.
