This is a .PNG image posted on photobucket by "carpemontis".
Carpe diem is from a "poem by Horace" and everyone knows what it means.
But what does Montis mean?? It's possible that Carpe Montis is a play on Costas Montis, who was "an influential and prolific" poet from Cyprus. This does make some sense since both Horace and Montis were poets. Without actually reading any of their works it is difficult to draw any further connections between them. It also reminds me of "Carp Mantis" which is a terrifying crossbreed between a carp and a praying mantis that likes to feed on human flesh.
The image is titled "Madstone" and is a close-up of the Madstone Shield from The Reaver's Fate. The shield is obsolete and uninteresting, but its graphic is kind of intimidating.
In short this all means absolutely nothing to me and I am at a loss as to how to discuss it.

But hey, cardboard or not it gives free tower shield proficiency :P
And unlike DDO's blocking DR a RL version may actually work as per PnP and provide total cover.
Downside is that it's BtC so you can't sell it on ebay.

Observations:
1) Behind this shield hides a gimp
2) The blue trim on the shield really makes your eyes pop

It grants tower shield prof and is crystal, so can be used by druids without breaking oath. Possibly useful twink gear, or as a swap in item for some builds (I have seen a barbarian tank with it during reavers fate, when he ended up with agro and we all had to stop attacking), but not end game gear by any means. Yes, that shield does make your butt look big.
