Default Client Crash When Saving Options

    Hello,

Recently, I lost my key mappings again, so I used the control panel to reset them, but when I click "Close" to save the new mappings, the client crashed.

This happens repeatedly so I am unable to change any of my control panel options.

Does anyone know why this may be happening and/or how it can be fixed? Is this a global problem that Turbine needs to patch, or is it something that I can fix on my end?

Does anyone know where the options are saved locally? (I assume they are saved in a config file on my hard drive.) Maybe that file or folder became corrupted somehow.

    Thanks in advance!

    Default and

Your current keymapping is in a file called ddo.keymap. On my XP system it's located in

    C:\Documents and Settings\MyUserName\My Documents\Dungeons and Dragons Online

along with my Screen Shots and User Preferences (userpreferences.ini) file.

I assume when you say "control panel" you are referring to the in-game DDO options.

I have not heard of people crashing in that particular place and wonder if it isn't because of some special issue with your PC, file permission error, disk error, etc. May I suggest you rename (rather than delete) the current ddo.keymap file to something else like ddo.keyold then relaunch DDO, let it create a new keymapping file, and try and save your custom settings there, in case it was a problem with the file itself? You can always rename the old one back again if needed.

My Documents\Dungeons and Dragons Online make sure that folder exists and the files are not set to read only.

Thanks, that seems to have worked. I was able to renew my key mappings and managed to make them stick, although I also got another crash later in the day when trying to save settings again.

I suspect you are right that there is something bad about the path or file. I wonder if the default location can be changed.

I'll make a backup of my config for future use.

    Thanks again!
