Question Of all who ever lived...

The other day when I was trying to set up an PUG for Inferno of the D***ed and was informed that I could not use the word "D**ned" in the comment section. Thought that was pretty amusing, since I wasn't the one who named the d***ed quest "Inferno of the D***ed," Turbine did.

The last time this happened I was maybe 8 years old and was informed (physically) that I wasn't allowed to talk like my generally foul-mouthed family.

Maybe this has already been covered. Sorry to bore you if it has, but my searching turned-up nothing.

XD Oh my, that makes me think of the movie Eurotrip where they constantly point out that America was founded by prudes.

The game has a PG rating, doesn't it? So mild cuss words like that should be allowed, but then again I find odd things to be censored sometimes, like 'Follower' was censored on my character's bio so I had to change it. (I had 'follower of Herne the Hunter' but changed it to 'druid of Herne the Hunter'.)

Little background. The Puritans went to Holland because of its religious freedom, it was the only country that would welcome them. But, as such an open society, the Puritans couldn't take it there and left to America. They weren't 'thrown out.'

Anyway, the filter is pretty stupid though. My wife's toon is named Consonance (a bard), which we thought was a pretty sweet name. Except that "Con" is a blocked word. Which is ironic because so many people use "Con" as an abreviation of Constitution, and of course Consonance, the reason I care.

So people ask her for a buff or to do something, and she has usually no idea that it was asked. It'll go like this.

Wife: ***? Screw that, I'm not gonna be cursed at... oh, that's my name. Got it.

    Or: @%$ take trash left.
In which case she has no idea she was being talked to.

Anyway. I always love a good filter thread.

Look to the bright side.... here in brazil we had slave drivers and people who came to plunder and to scape law punishment and such... Look what we've got now.

    Thanks for the clarification.

It also doesn't help that like many USAians, I confuse Pilgrims and Puritans sometimes, too.

This line of questioning/commenting is forbidden?
Had I known, I'd have just kept chuckling to myself.

The question itself is not taboo... the fickle nature of the word filter is a pretty frequent topic.

What is questionable is the religious aspect you invoke by bringing up the Puritans. While I don't think what you wrote is in any way spurring a religious debate, nor in itself rubbing the rules wrong... if somebody were to complain the thread will likely be locked.

Thanks Memnir. I should read up on the rules before posting anyhow. Mostly I just lurk and think about how dangerous a drinking game based on these forums, that required drinking when one reads the words 'Guild Wars 2" or "GW2," would be.

I just got back from seeing one of the members of my medical team and was sweating this out the whole time. I guess although these are non-existent faiths it is a little closer to the present than invoking the Brethren of the Free Spirit, Mitharites or Etruscans.

Uhm dude, this is not a forum where insulting a religion, ANY religion is acceptable. All your doing is showing yourself to be incredibly lacking in the Stats Int/Wis&CHR with a post like this. Sad very sad to think anyone feels this could be an appropriate forum topic.

Buddy any american kid who payed attention in school knows the difference. Not to mention we have something called wikipedia now days so even kids who show a single ounce of actual interest in bettering themselves can read up on a topic without hassle.

Im starting to think your a troll who is trying to sound childishly ignorant as some kind of defence.

    Default puritans

Good thing there are no Puritans left... only their decensants and ideas imbedded into our culture and ideals.

The forum topic was the filter, Miles Standish, and pointing out that their version of Bronze Age morality is alive and well in the filter.

My mention of the morals nearly indistinguishable groups of long-dead theocrats was a joke. To me it's still funnier than attributing my possession of a sense of humor to having low RPG stats.

Had I known that I would upset the Silver Flame I surely wouldn't have used that as a lead-in.

Ever notice how sometimes ya miss seeing the house cuz of the decor on the porch?

(Translated: OP, you distracted your readers from your chat-filter topic by opening with controversial thread title. Not saying right/wrong about the topic, just pointing out the distraction you self-inflicted with the title choice.)

That filtering wasn't the end of the world. Just seemed funny. I just used "Inferno of the Danged" this time around.I thought a silly topic could handle a silly intro. Didn't seem like a big deal.

Thinking hasn't served me well and I have no idea why this time might have been an exception.

By the semi-anonymous nature of the serious business that is the internets, I guess especially in MMOs there's really no way to know if you're playing with Fred Phelps, Mullah Omar, Raoul Vaneigem, or the local UPS guy?

I'm glad I went grocery shopping yesterday. Hate to be a lousy host, but we don't really drink, so there's no beer here, but there's a great "beer cave" with 100s of different brews, at a local hot dog shop, for those so inclined.
