    Question Threnal Elite CR 19

    Threnal South Elite now has most mobs as CR 19 Beholders CR 22 and it takes between 6 and 10 times as long as usual to run the chain. This is a level 11 quest...

    Tried to Bug Report the new improved CR 19. The Bug Report Form has a : 500 Internal Server Error when I try to submit.

    On Elite the Renders and Oozes are now CR19. I use to solo this chain each life, now it takes six to ten times as long even with a full group. What is the purpose of the changes to this chain?

    In part three of Threnal South the Giants are an appropriate and usual CR 14. So it seems to be Threnal South Parts 1 and 2 that have the CR 19 - 22 mob bug.

    Hi,

    There was something about this in the release notes for the last patch.

    "In line with reports from customers that the Threnal chain is too much fun, monster CR ratings and NPC HP have been adjusted accordingly".

    Seriously though, I ran the chain recently, and didn't notice any differences. However, because some parts of it are so excruciating, I always run it way over level and because of that it would be easy to miss a change.

    CR 19 mobs in a level 11 elite quest sounds about right. Elite usually has mobs statted much, much higher than Normal or Hard.

    Question Dev Speak

    Can a Dev confirm that a level 9 quest on elite is level 11 and that it should not have the majority of the mobs more than 5 levels above quest level?

    It seems silly to have a CR 22 Beholder in a level 11 quest with most of the mobs being CR 19.

    Is this working as intended?

    Just ran this series last night on elite with a group from level 9 though 11. The party we had was very good, flew through East and West with no problems. Then we got to the main section. The 1st quest was not too bad. We noticed that the DR on the reavers/renders/flensers seemed to get a little tougher but we still completed without issue.

    Then we got to 'Entering the Gate Chamber' and wow talk about night and day, CR 18 reavers, CR22 elder beholders. It felt like an eternity to just complete this #$&$&# quest. If this is their idea of more interesting or fun, they can keep it. Getting disintegrated for 298 points on a lvl 9 toon was just icing on the cake. I wish some other people would try this and see if everything seem 'in line' for a level 9 quest (11 elite).

    Given that a level 21 elite quest (Epic Elite Into the Rift) has CR 46 dretches as trash mobs, yes, I'd say a CR in line with double the quest level is pretty common.

    Elite is an optional hard difficulty that was designed assuming you have well-built characters that are strong for their level.

    You do not need to bug report this or demand the devs confirm it.

    This quest is over 6 years old. They have ALWAYS been this Cr.

    Every elite quest has monsters of similar CR boosts. Why did you just check a bunch of quest and see they are all similar and determine that for yourself?

    It's elite, its intended to be difficult. CRs are only meant to be near the level of the quest on normal, though even that has some exceptions.

    Besides that, its just an arbitrary number.

    A cr19 normal monster for example is still vastly weaker then a cr19 elite mob. Difficulties work that way, they have to.

    If anything, elite threnal is far too easy these days due ot the 6 years of player power booster we got, and the monster got nearly none of it.

    Thats a better attitude.

    it is my idea of fun. And that quest generally takes me under 10min to solo at lvl on elite, or under 7min in a group of similar players. It's of no challenge to us.

    6 years ago when it was first release on elite, adn the cap was 10, it was a decent challenge.

    Every difficulty is not designed for every player. There are 3 others for you to select from in this case. (and many have as much as 8 modes) Just keep that in mind.

    Ive never had any great trouble with the beholders, but i usually take them by surprise at a distance.
