    Default Precise casting and Ascendancy

    Greetings

    From the Wiki:
Precise Casting: Conjuration / Evocation: Passive Bonus: +1 DC to spells of the selected school.
EDP Cost: 1 Ranks: 2 Progression: 4 Requires: Requires feat Spell Focus: Conjuration for conjuration version, or feat Spell Focus: Evocation for evocation version.

Now I am wondering if an active Wizard PL might work as a prereq for this as it gives +1 DC to all Schools. I doubt it but I am hoping. I am having a hard time fitting in SF Evoc on my FvS hence the hope. I currently have max, emp, emp heal, quicken, heighten, toughness, wiz PL, SP, GSP and ESP as my ten feats and I quite like all of them.

    Also from the Wiki:
Ascendance: Active Ability: (Cooldown 5mins) Transformation Assume angelic form (type outsider good, angel) . Any time you cast light damage spell, chance to gain temporary spell points. Any time you cast single target cure spells on a target, chance to give the target temporary HP. Any time you smite an enemy, chance to gain temporary HP. Your Angelic Presence and Astral Vibrance abilities do not have health requirements while in Angelic form. Astral Vibrance has no spell point drain while you are in Angelic form. Duration 2 minutes. Costs 50SP.

I have this - but I rarely seem to use it. The light around me is rather annoying as it lowers visibility and the effect seems rather small. Please tell me why this is good so I might learn to appreciate it better because right now I am finding it lackluster.

You are correct. The active Wizard past life does not qualify you for any of the Precise Casting (Draconic Incarnation) nor School Specialist (Magister) destiny enhancements.

According to the Wiki School Specialist does not require anything though - but I suppose that could be incorrect.
School specialist: Passive Bonus: +[1/2/3] DC to chosen school.
EDP Cost: 1 Ranks: 3 Progression: 4 No requirements

School Specialist requires the Spell Focus feat for the school you wish to train the enhancement for. So between these two twists, Spell Focus:Evo is worth +6 DC potential on your Implosion.

This ability seems like ****, but if you have a melee based fvs, it is AWESOME. The description leaves out the best perk of this ability: It adds Radiant Blast (proc from the Wraps of Endless Light) to your melee weapon for the duration, but unlike the wraps, it seems to go off on a vorpal, not the miniscule 3% random chance.

Thanks. However, I never really melee so for me thats of little use. I wonder if anyone has worked out the random mana proc on it thus knowing if its likely to pay for itself in terms of sp atleast.

Procs aside, I'd say the removal of health requirements on Astral Vibrance and Angelic Presence and the removal of the SP drain is pretty significant.

It eliminates UMD lag caused by health fluctuation in consistent high damage situations while using Angelic Presence.

With the SP drain and health requirements, Astral Vibrance is absolutely useless. So with the removal of these things AV becomes useable. They ought to just apply AV to Ascendency and give something better to the level 2 innate.

On a final note, even if you don't find any reason to use Ascendency, you might want to get used to the graphic because its the same one used in Reborn in the Light.

Thanks for the input. Sofar I havent found Astral Vibrance to do a whole lot even without the HP and SP requirements but I suppose that may come. In what situations do you find this to shine?

I also very much dislike that Astral Vibrance needs to be turned on seperately when I use Ascendency - and even more that it does not turn off automatically when Ascendency runs out. A couple of times I have used quite alot of SP before I noticed that AV was still running well past the time that Adcendency was active.

I havent tried Reborn in Light yet so I cannot comment on that. How have you spent your 24 ap to include that - and why/when do you find it to be great?

There's really no particular situations where it shines, its really just supplemental healing and damage. So when Ascendency isn't on CD and you could use the extra help, hit them both.

Reborn in the Light is like Death Pact, but better. If dead, it resurrects you to full health, though DPs still apply, and provides all the other sweet bonuses. You can, of course, just use it as a buff, if you'd prefer.

As for how I fit it in, mostly experimentation, my points are scattered across the various abilities. I didn't take the judgment line as it isn't all that useful. I took 4 ability pt increases. I also got the Divine Wrath ability, great AoE damage/mass heal ability.

One thing worth mentioning is that Exalted Angel is much better on a FvS than a Cleric. On a FvS every attack by your archon and every searing and cure from capstone count towards your counters. The cleric has none of these. You'll hit your counter requirements rather quickly on a FvS, not so much on a cleric.

    Thanks again.

I guess I will have to try out Reborn and Divine Wrath. Sofar my points are in +Wis (higher DC), Avenging Light and Renewal (I love a good SLA) with the rest in spell power and spell points. Having those also means that I can twist in Endless Faith and Avenging Light when working on a different ED without having to redo everything when I switch.

Not working as intended. Ascending should turn on Astral Vibrance and then turn it off when done.
