Default Barrier of Scales: Worth It?

Is 60 points of ablative armour for 30 seconds every two minutes especially useful? It looks like it could be good - but is it as good as Daunting Roar? I am also confused as to the exact nature of "ablative protection"; does this work in the same way as stoneskin, but without the 10 point cap on damage prevented?

    Thanks.

Edit: Well, this was meant to go in the Epic Destinies forum. Oops!

I believe it works like ablative armor arti spell, which iirc a dev said should work on physical attacks and force spells

Someone may be misreading the tooltip.
Each rank lowers the cool-down and raises the protective benefit. It seems really good to me.

I was thinking this would be great too...but its not.
Maxed out, it gives 120 ablative armor for 90 seconds, cooldown for using it again at 120 seconds. This looks great, but heres the catch...once you get hit for a total of 120 pts., its spent, and in epic content, thats maybe 1 hit...then you're waiting for the 120 second cooldown to activate it again.

That's my understanding of it as well. Just not worth it. I think the dev in charge might have been going for a reverse heal type flavor for the ability. It's like healing for 120 hp proactively. When you look at it that way, it feels a bit more flavorful, but still doesn't make the ability any more useful.

Maybe if it were 500-1000 it might be useful.

    ^^ Exactly this.

Plus, maxing it out would mean spending 6 points. Way too much nice stuff in Draconic to waste 6 points on a near useless skill. Daunting Roar is great CC. You can follow up with energy burst and then sweep up the pieces of shattered ee mobs.

This is precisely the logic I used when deciding - and promptly skipped it.
