Default Update 16 request: Revise the spell Burning Blood

This spell has so much potential but just flat-out sucks at the moment. The packets of damage are so small that even 20 resistance to one element on the target cripples the damage output.

    Suggestion:
    - Add an initial pulse of damage that is all fire. (Acid is appealing enough due to other spells while Fire is a weak spec for casters still even in the near-total absence of fire resist). Half the damage of Polar Ray is a balanced level to test IMO.
    - Add a mass version (as a level 9 spell)
    - Give this to more enemies and set the world on fire.

Fire needs a tool that reliably does damage to evasion mobs such as almost every Drow or Spider in epic elite content. This, IMO, would be it.
    I don't have a zerging problem.

    I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.

LOL, this reminds me of a recent run of Servants of the Underlord I was in, on EE.

The sorcerer in the group said, "I'm just going to hide in the corner because the Death Knights are immune to all my elemental spells"

"That's not true," said the leader. "They are immune to cold and electricity only"

"No," argued the sorc. "Acid and fire too."

"What are you casting on them?"

    "Burning Blood."

Other than the fact of explaining to the sorc that Death Knights don't have blood, he was asked why he would ever cast Burning Blood in any Epic Elite content. Someone asked him why he even bothered learning Burning Blood to begin with...

It is an incredibly weak spell. /signed to making it at least somewhat useful.

IMHO they should take ALL the spell they nerfed such as Wall of Fire and Burning Blood and roll them back to their glory days.

I remember Pre-savant days when WoF would crit over 1,000hp and it wasn't hard to reach this goal.

Should everyone picking up WoF or BB be able to cast with this kind of nuke power...NO. But if you are a savant of that specific element then yes, they should be WAY more powerful than they are.

Ice doesn't need any revamping as I am a Water Savant and it can deal out pure DPS.
But there was a time when fire could keep up with it except in a small portion of the game...maybe an important portion...but small none the less. Once you cap and get to Eveningstar or 90% of your E content then fire is right back on the table.

I personally think they need to revamp the Savant lines though. Take some from the glory days of the Sorc and make Elemental Savant (fire/ice), Energy Savant (electricity/acid), Force Savant (force/non-enchant CC).

Of course there will always be cross over spells like Meteor swarm and Ice storm (one runs off the strongest of either force or fire and the other runs off the stronger of force or ice).

    But, yes...I agree with you.

    I. I agree that fire as a spec is lacking, this also counts on fire weapons (poor Fire Gaxe is so rusted now). I would like to see one of late game with epic pack heavy themed in icelands so all this fire savants can see some purple numbers.

II. I dont like the sound of "bring WoF to former glory" its to near for me to "we dont need 40 spells, why not have one to rule them all?" WoF is quite good, especially in undead themed scenery.

III. Burning Blood on the other side is just not scary, and its unfair that fire dont have his DOT, even more if its dot more like Dragon Bolt than Niacs stuff.

Im less sure about blasting aspect, for me what is DoT should stay dot.
For blasting purpose DBF and MS should be spells to go.

As for dmg formula, why not just make it 5 +1d2/2lv of both elements per tick cap at cl25? And cost rised to 20SP.
This way it still be less powerful than blackbolt or Niacs, but have much more punch.

IV. Mass Burning Blood is cool idea. Thumbs up.

    V. Incendiary Cloud - this could be a fire spell of mass destruction if dmg was more lke 3d6 + 1/cl (cap at 25CL)

    Well said.

I do agree that WoF shouldn't become a catch-all spell like it used to be; but the nerf bat they swung at it was WAY too big. Even somewhere in the middle of where it is now and where it once was would make us fire enthusiasts happy.

Great idea on and "Ice themed package". It could honestly be done in the FR package...FR has a great ice themed setting that could (if done right) make players once again look kindly on fire spec.
