    Post 6th life...pally

Some of you may know me in game as Zenavathar. He is my main toon, going for 3x completionist without ever repeating a build. A very lofty task.

Well after 2 FvS lives, a barb life, and 2 fighter lives i'm ready to move on to a pally life. I've tried making pally's before but have always botched them real bad by level 8. and after 2 fighter lives i'm feeling a bit feat starved in char gen. I'm thinking i'll splash 2 fighter for the feats, and then level with hunter of the undead (all those necro quests and delera's.) So without me cluttering the post with more text...

I went and looked back at my completionist thread, cause I usually post a fare amount of my build choices.

But with the 35% xp bonus week, it seems I did not post hardly any.

    Fawngate was an enjoyable Pally.
She had good AC, crafting a bit, enjoying her greensteel deflection bonus, and her cove natural armor hat.

She invested a bit into healing amp, but she did not take near the damage she did on her ranger life.
Cure Serious was used and until at lvl 18 when she took Maximized feat, it was not metamagic.
Mostly she used the high AC of Defender of Siberious along with offensive feats such as power attack, cleave, great cleave, improved critical slashing.
I don't remember about shield feats, thinking maybe I took some.
Lay on Hands did fine till high levels when she began to feel the need for maximized cure serious.

However sometimes, the BYOH zergers got in trouble and would need heals. Then she began to feel pressure on her own resources, but it worked out.

She did take one fighter level early on, for the Tower Shield and the bonus feat.
Don't remember if she took a second fighter level, probably not hoping to increase pally caster levels.

Be aware you are wearing heavy armor, that alone will acount for a loss of speed.
(Test it out in the marketplace with a timer if you want ~ robes vs heavy plate...)

So you will be dealing with the zerger's backwash.
Be aware you will walk into a room with two dozen trolls trying to squeeze thru a choke point all at the same time.
Hence, the cleave/great cleave cycle which actually worked fine with a large shield.

    Upgrading armor often is important.

Yes, I know you might be headed towards two handed fighting, but maybe that is better left to your ranger life?
Up to you, as its your character.

I don't think she took extend, felt like tankish dps would be better.

She often used her radiant scimitar (crafted for ranger/rogue lives) as the blinding seemed to help the whole party.

I think she was human or half elf ~ there on post 106:
Since its to heroic xp, Fawngate went ahead and TRed into a human pally with a fighter splash.
She might swing back and forth between tank and dps builds to explore the class.
    http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=375340&page=6
I think I remember Improved Shield Bashing as a feat.
Hold Block press Cleave press Great Cleave press mouse button at times.

She feared spellcasters more than anything.
She does have a crafted trinket for 33% absorbtion of fire and another for electric.

All in all, enjoyable, good luck.

looks alright to me, the only thing i might change are the levels.
16 paladin doesn't offer much over 15 so you have 1 free class spot

going on that i would say 15 paladin,2 monk,1 fighter or rogue for attack haste boost

i see monk as a better option, you still get 2 extra combat feats for the first 2 levels of monk and the choice of evasion if you come up in a caster/trap heavy quest. you should have enough reflex being a paladin

the fighter/rogue is in there for haste boost. the difference being if you have spare skill points you can do traps and to a little sneak damage if your not soloing by taking rogue and if you take fighter its an extra feat if you feel you need it

just on an afterthought looking through your build a little more i would take cleave early on (fantastic for low levels)
and you don't need weapon focus at all, you could take great cleave(more aoe damage) or combat expertise (swap to defender of the siberys after necro 4) instead

thanks for all the tips and advice. i might fiddle with the build a bit more. possibly get rid of weapon focus, as it really isn't needed...i'm just used to grabbing it.

silverleafeon i appreciate all the advice . i usually use a crafted min level 1 unbalancing breastplate of invulnerability with a medium guild slot from levels 1-15. and have plenty of GS gear for higher levels. i might actually try wearing some heavy armor this life, although i am a very dirty zerger and that might get in my way. lol. the extend is for divine favor and zeal. 35 sp for 4:15 divine favor is better than 25 for a 2 min one. efficient spellcasting .

DoS is really tempting, but for many of the benefits i have to give up my zerging. and monk is a nice combo, but my reflex won't be high enough for it to matter. . and if i do decide i need ac for something i can tower shield it up. .

i REALLY appreciate all the advice and will keep it all in mind, and i do not mean to sound as though i am just tossing your ideas aside, i'm just explaining my reasoning behind what i do. (and i'll have 3 pally lives, so if i don't use your advice this time around i might on a different pally build) . let me know if any of the info i spouted is wrong, or if you have anymore advice. thanks again! ^_^

Hunter of the undead should be fun too.

Gonna think about that after the new enhancement update.

    Mabar next for me...

would totally go defender if i was going to go to 20, but there are just so many undead while leveling. and the innate immunity to energy drain just makes it all the better. . as for mabar...i have a lowly 1st life cleric i want to get up in level for mabar maybe. lol

I wonder what happened to TRing a few days after this post was written. Oh yeah, we got addicted to epics...anyone have a cure for TR-itis?

    Default Pali past lifes

Personally, I don't particularly enjoy doing pali lives. I think at cap they are OK and can be fun, but the leveling is right next to Barb in my book, something that I just don't enjoy.

Hence, My next pali life will be something like this below. Note that this is a typical TR right after cap build, just doing it for the past life credit (which from your description that is what you are doing). Now this is a staff build because I have all the staffs on that toon, but you could do it with Short Swords (get the Short Swords from lordsmarch chain and other random loot Short Swords good enough for a past life). I prefer stick though.

With Monk adept at wind and Rogue acrobat, you have a nice 20% melee speed increase with staffs and 5% doublestrike (combine that with cleave and great cleave and whirlwind and you have a mob mower). You can do pretty much any trap in the game. You have decent REflex save (with gear), evasion, high UMD (pretty much any scroll you would like at lvl), decent AC, and not bad DPS with the respectable sneak damage. You could alternatively go light monk for the healing, which if you plan on soloing a lot could be pretty slick and a better option.

Just an idea, but yeah this is pretty much what my next past life pali build gonna look like:

Well after 2 FvS lives, a barb life, and 2 fighter lives i'm ready to move on to a pally life. I've tried making pally's before but have always botched them real bad by level 8. and after 2 fighter lives i'm feeling a bit feat starved in char gen. I'm thinking i'll splash 2 fighter for the feats, and then level with hunter of the undead (all those necro quests and delera's.) So without me cluttering the post with more text...

handwraps coupled with stunning fist are much better than short swords, add in touch of death then improved evasion to top it off, and it ends up being much easier to level.

    Wouldn't (7 Paladin \ 7 Monk \ 6 Rogue) be a monk PL?

My split for a Pally life is 12 Pally/6 fighter/2 monk. Not very creative but lots of feats and decent damage, and evasion.

Look at all the class, count the highest one, look for ties.
In case of a tie, look for alphabetical order, with Monk, then Fvs, then Artificer, then Druid listed last.

    [its listed alphabetically
with any new classes added placed at the end
Monk was the first new class]

    So, Pally ties Monk.
Pally wins since Monk was added after the orignal set.
But log in, go in a dungeon, and look at the symbol by your character as it is what the past life will be.
