Default I would like to see some of the old content back into the game again

    Hello, everyone,

I would really, really, really see some of the old content back again.

There is still so much lost as I saw by looking into the Wiki's "History" part : http://ddowiki.com/page/Category:History

    Belly-up Tavern ? What's that ?

    Four-fingered Thad ?
    Euphonia ? Who's that ?

The younger generations (including me !) don't know who she is - apart from the Crstal cove.

I would really love to see her low-level quests again adapted to modern gameplay, of course.

    Same goes for Four-fingered Thad.

I propose therefore that there should be a *permanent* passageway via the Harbour - or, even better, via Kortos [Island] ! to Smuggler's Rest. Which would be otherwise empty, apart from the tavern and the low-level quests.

The "farshifter" should the same person which lets people go to smuggler's Rest during the Crystal Cove event. And back, too.

Opening these quests for low-level characters would have a two-fold positive result :

Newer players could learn some more about early-level gameplay,
meanwhile TRs could get a chance to see those old places again - especially long-time players would perhaps appreciate this, I guess.

There are several other quests which could be included as well - of course adapted to modern gameplay. The Low Road, for example, could be a secret passage between the Harbour and The Twelve, or between Korthos Village and another part, maybe even Kobold island.

This way players could get accustomed to Kobold island already and be better prepared to the House Cannith Challenges which include Kobold Island.

Or the Low Road could be a another secret passage - one between Smuggler's Rest and the Harbour.

Additionally, putting in these quests again would give F2P players an opportunity to longer play DDO - and having a counterweight against the newly added MOTU content, too.

    - As I write this, I have found that there is one thing still missing : The Harbour Master complains about Kobolds kidnapping kids - and he refers to waterworks.

There is kind of a logical hole in this, as I just found out : Because the quest description of "Sewer Rescue" reads like this :

With kobolds daring to kidnap citizens in broad daylight, it is no wonder that Stromreach needs heroes.
Now THIS is what he refers to, and NOT the two missing adventurers in WW !

I'd like to see this quest again.

The only real problem is the amount of favour these quests would give. These older quests should give only a small amount, imho, so that they won't disrupt the giving out of other favour points - but still give out enough that the "Champion Of Stormreach" favour mark becomes available by the Free Agents.

Plus, it's be worthwhile to add someone into F2P who is able to do he same things as the 400 Free Agents Favour Patron is able to do in Zwabi's Refuge. (And, by the time people reach Zwabi's Refuge, most people have already long, long, long long, long forgotten that they had some Free Agents Favour for THAT area ...)

Another thing that could be implemented is giving enough House Phiarlan Favour points so that the mark of "honoured" for the Erstwhile Emporium can actually be reached.

(Apart from that, there is still the Silver Flame Favour - which could be used to enble players an earlier access to the Silver Flame Potions.)

Back to topic : Yes, I would like to see a great part of the old content back in the game again ! - As low-level content, of course.
It - imho would give several benefits to the players, and give a counterweight to the newly-added high-level content.

There is so much that got lost in the course of time - an there is so much I would love to see !

On the contrary, there is not much that has been lost .. most of the 'lost' quests have been reworked into something else. For example, the Low Road is now Stopping the Sahuagin.

To my knowledge, the only truly missing quests are Euphonia's Challenge (essentially just a very pedestrian tutorial), Postern Gate Wilds, and the combat/magic/trap training rooms (if you can call those a quest). Nothing I need to see again.

    Question

Why not reuse some of these old quests to give high-level players short quests again ?

    That's a thing i really miss : Short quests.

The higher the level, the more I miss it.

    /Signed.
A lot of us want to see reworking of older content, than a bunch of new stuff, which only adds to the endless Known Issues any way. I'd like to see my hard earned investments become better in quality, not just quantity.

To the OP: they are in fact going to bring us epic Gianthold within at least two major updates. There was talk about upcoming changes, and I dont know if they actually started working on that, but that was one that's at the "top of the list" along with some supposed overhaul to fix many bugs all over DDO.

What is your definition of "short"? I think Inspired Quarters are short enough.
Amossa d'Cannith, Sarlona, casually trying Completionist (12/14) [<o>]
    Almost-never-played-alts: Arquera - Chapolin - Fabber - Herweg - Mecanico - Tenma

I want DDO to be a better game. Those are my personal suggestions on: Ammunition, Archmage, Combat Stances, Deities, Dispel Magic, Epic Destiny Map, Fast Healing, Favor, Favored Enemy, Half-elf Enhancements, Monk Kensai, Monk Stances, Past Life, Potency, Potions, Ranger Spells, Summons, Tiered Loot.

There's lots of high level short quests.

    A list:

13 - Most Gianthold walkups (somewhat ruined by having to run to them). Blockade Buster is also very short.
14 - Orchard quests except Fleshmakers (good group only).
16 - Running with the Devils (normal difficulty only as many groups need to take hard/elite one monster pack at a time). Lords of Dust.
18 - Entire IQ1 chain (except Mindsunder on Elite which needs to be taken slowly in many groups)
19 - Reclaiming Memories, Mining for Ancient Secrets
20 - Snitch (below EE), Bargain of Blood. From here on, all Elite quests take a long time for most groups.
21 - Impossible Demands, Unquiet Graves (long run), VON1, all of the Fens
22 - All three House quests (Broken Chains less so than the other two). Offering of Blood, VON3 (Normal only).
    I don't have a zerging problem.

    I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.

"The Kobold's New Ringleader" is marked as being "long" for example.
"Mired in Kobolds" is "long" for me.
Yes, even "Snitch" is "long" for me : I usually take 1 hour for completion (and I did it 2-3 times now). Gwylan's Last Stand is "long" for me.
"You are a Tiefling. And a Cleric, with the Domain of the Sun. Doesn't that contradict each other ?" "No, all my friends are playing evil. I found that so boring that I decided to be on the good side. And, besides, Sun and Fire, where is the difference, really ?"
