    Arrow Epic Gianthold

Fernando mentioned this.. I think it would be a ton of fun, if done right.. I have my doubts we will ever really see it despite that, but we can always hope.

Here's what I hope it would be like. Mostly gona cover the loots as thats what seems to drive everyone to play these.

    Difficulty:
Tor: Current Epic version (Yea I complted it twice already) = Epic Hard except traps toned down slightly.
EE: RAMP IT UP TO 11!

    Loot Distribution:
To avoid the desert scroll grind issue, simply confine the scrolls to subsets of quests/items.

    Epic Tor:
Any chest, fairly common: Seals for ALL epic gianthold items.
Epic CHEST!: Tor-only Shards, lower rate. Let them be the limiting factor, as they should be.
Scrolls: Tor-only items. At the new EE droprate rates, they wont be an issue
    Misc:
Epic Chest also contains Flawless White/Black/Blue scales
(This is already implemented, tho they are currently BTC. Change them to unbound).
(You make the new epic armor same as velah-redscale - shard + scales + any non epic dragonscale)

PS: Epic Tor currently has three Epic Chests, one after each dragon.

    Madstone/Pop/Crucible:
    Samesish as tor
    - Seals in side chests, covering all 3 quests named items.
Shards - low rate in end epic chest (Which is in ADDITION to the current chests): Quest-specific item shards only
Scrolls - only drops the 3 quest named item scrolls

    Sidequests:
    - Any seal packwide in side chests. Raid ones set slightly rarer as raidloot will be made uber powerful!
    - End epic chest: only madstone/pop/crucible shards.
    - Scrolls: Raid items and madstone/pop/crucible only

    Raid:
    - current existing 3 lootchest: Seals, decent droprate on raid item seals to get ppl exciting to get started on an item at least. Outdoor quest seals drop too, at a lower rate then raidseals.
    - Raidchest: No ingredients, but base items at a higher rate, seals of stormeaver at a higher rate (upgraded item required to Epic it), +4 tomes on EN/EH. +5 tomes on EE. (20th reward also has +5s, so non EE players can get them)
EPIC CHEST: (In addition, not replacing, raidchest):
    - Raid shards, at a low rate. Also drops flawless red/green/black/white/silver scales - all unbound. EN/EH: 1 token guarenteed. EE has 2 raid tokens.
    Scrolls: Any scroll from pack.

Explorer area (Yea ofcourse explorer area gets epic too!!!!!)
    - Several new automagic epics items drop here. (Pre crafted for the "I want it now! crowd, lower power then crafted epics, and no slots to retain balance. Add some useful to everyone ones like: 2x teleport clicky)
-- These are all ML21 and BTCOE, so can be traded or auctioned as well.
    - Several new rares added, including epic silver dragon. His chest drops scales at a low rate, (higher rate in raid). Epic armor craft is same as Velah-red scale. (Any base scale + 20 silvers + shard of the silver dragon)

    Loot stats:
Epic Tor is currently already itemized (items stats are available on compendium/google if you look hard enough).. But it's a bit dated for level25 standards, so I'll be upgrading stuff further. These will be considered top tier epics, and thus be ML23 instead of the current ML20.

    Allegiance
Current nonepic: +5 Khopesh: Elf Bane, Khopesh Proficiency [ML:12]
Current Epic: Mouse over for stats
    New:
+7 Khopesh: 2[1d8], 19-20/x4, Epic Elf Bane, Khopesh Proficiency, Red Slot

    Bronze Ingot Arcanum
Current nonepic: Bronze Ingot Arcanum - +2 Quarterstaff: Spellcasting Implement +6, Major Acid Lore, Corrosion +66 [ML:12]
Current Epic: Mouse over for stats
    New:
+8, Superior Acid Lore, Corrosion +126, Major Acid Augmentation (+3CL and MCL to Acid spells), Force +114, Potency +80. Prismatic Slot (Any epic augment goes in here)
Clicky: Sovereign Erosion (30 alch to acid spell power)

    Silver Ingot Arcanum
Current nonepic: - +2 Quarterstaff: Spellcasting Implement +6, Major Ice Lore, Glaciation +66 [ML:12]
Current Epic: Mouse over for stats
    New:
+8, Superior Ice Lore, Glaciation +126, Major Ice Augmentation (+3CL and MCL to Ice spells), Force +114, Potency +80. Prismatic Slot (Any epic augment goes in here)
Clicky: Sovereign Freeze (30 alch to ice spell power)

    Copper Ingot Arcanum:
Same as other above 2 except Electric. Additionaly a Fire version of this will drop pre-build in the new Epic Gianthold outdoor area from the named fire giant (Lord Jax):
Slighty different since its pre built with no slots:

    Platinum Ingot Arcanum:
+6, Superior Fire Lore, Combustion +120, Fire Augmentation (+2CL and MCL to Ice spells), Force +114, Potency +80. Major Evocation Focus, Sovereign Fire resistance. Clicky: Superior Inferno (25 alch to fire spell power) [BtCoE, ML21]

    Erata:
These would each compliment the existing very powerful epic qstaff (Twilight), as they each focus on a different element, while having less total force/universal then teh twilight (due to its set bonus). But they retain the force as thats useful to so many different specs so besides the obvious savants taht would want these, some clr/fvs/druid who spec in evocation would like these. Additional, yellow +spell focus gems would be upgraded to +2 focus, so you could add any +2 spell school you wanted in the prismatic slot.

    Globe of Imperial Blood -
Current non epic: Trinket: Strength +2, Dexterity +2, Constitution +2, Intelligence +2, Wisdom +2, Charisma +2, Wizardry II [ML:13]
    New:
Trinket: +2 Alchemical bonus to all stats. Wizardry VIII. Prismatic Slot.
Clicky: Bloodlust: For 30 seconds you gain the power of Draconic blood lust. While this is active you drink the blood of your enemies: Each kill provides a +1 alchemical bonus to all stats. While this is non stacking with the included enchantments, you can continue to stack this with itself up to 6 times, for a net gain of up to +4 bonus to all stats if you continue to get kills every 30 seconds. Each stack fades after 30 seconds if you do not kill an enemy.
1/day. Kind of a mini version of Masters Blitz.

    Helm of the Black Dragon
Current nonepic: - Helm: Dexterity +5, Black Dragon Bolt [ML:13]
    New:
Helm: Dexterity +9, Black Dragon Bolt (CL:25), 5/day. Green Slot.
Set bonus: If you wear this along with a set of Epic Black Dragonscale, you gain:
    Frightful Presence:
Your enemies mistake you for a black dragon! The ability takes effect automatically whenever enemy come within 5 feet of you. Creatures of less then 30 Hitdice must make a DC40 will save or run away in fear. Even upon a sucessful save they will become shaken for 1 minute (-2 to various stats). Enemies with 30 of more Hitdice are imediately shaken, but not feared.

    Manacles of Ceaseless Toil
Current nonepic: - Bracers: Strength +3, Constitution +3, Remove Exhaustion
    New:
Bracers: Strength +9, Insightful Con +3, Healing Amplification +10%, Immunity to Exhaustion: (Renders you immune to fatigue, exhaust and ray of enfeeblement, from any source). Blue slot.
Clicky: Regenerate 2x/day. (Also fix the annoying constantly leaf anim on regenerate please)

    Belt of the Seven Ideals
Current nonepic: Belt: Potency +48, Spell Penetration VII, Lawful only (DC 24)
New: Belt: Potency +88, +7 Charisma, Greater Spell Pen IX, Balance of Land and sky guard (1d6 random elemental damage guard, procs every hit of one random element),
Elemental spellpower and Greater (Same as a shroud sp item minus wizardry), Exceptional cha skills +3, Lawful only (DC34). Yellow slot.

    Giantcrafted Siberys Compass
Non epic: - Trinket: Search +13, Resistance Save +2, Will Save +4 [ML:13]
    New:
Search +20, Spot +20, Insightful Resistance +2, Enchantment save +8, Blue slot, Colorless slot.
    Clicky: Teleport 1x/day

As a joke, a "broken" version of the compass would drop in the xplorer area as a pre made:
    Stats:
    Search +15, Spot +15, Insightful Resistance +1, Enchantment save +6. [BtCoE, ML21]
    Clicky: Greater Teleport 1x/day
    Description:
This compass has been enchanted beyond the limits of what is now possible. It's so powerful that you find you can not even use it except when you are adventuring in a dungeon. Perhaps it's broken?

    Tortured Livewood Bow
Non epic: +5 Longbow: Acid Arrow [ML:12]
Current Epic: Mouse over for stats
    New:
+7 [2]1d10, 20/x4 Longbow: Greater Acid Arrow, Elasticity, Acid Torrent. Red slot
(Pinion still beats this by quite a bit, but this would be fun for the huge crit figures it could create, and offer easier dr breaking. And as a non-raid wep, should be a bit less dps.) Barrage @ +76 dmg, seeker10:
    Pinion: Final Average Attack: 172.63 = 165.98 + 6.65.
    This bow proposed stats: Final Average Attack: 158.13 = 152.15 + 5.98

    Hammer of the Leaden Clouds
Nonepic: - +4 Warhammer: Thundering, Stunning +8, Major Sonic Lore, Resonance +60 [ML:12]
    New:
+7 Warhammer: [2]1d10: Wailing, Stunning +15, Superior Sonic Lore, Resonance +126, Thunderclap, Bonesplitter, Blunt Trauma, Red slot
(Not the best dps, but an uber CC wep and warhammers need love.)

Helm of the Blue Dragon -
Nonepic: Helm of the Blue Dragon - Helm: Intelligence +5, Lightning Bolt x1/day
    Epic:
    Helm: Intelligence +9, Green Slot.
Clicky: 3x/day: Epic Lightning Bolt (30d6 lightning bolt, DC35+applicable pastlife bonuses/enhancements reflex for half)
Set bonus: If you wear this along with a set of Epic Blue Dragonscale, you gain:
    Cunning of the Blue Dragon:
Grants 33% Electrical Absorption, -5 SP cost on metamagic: Quicken, +30 Swim and Electric Augmentation (+2CL and MCL on electric spells)
*These bonuses are non stacking with similar enchantments.

    Mantle of the Dragonfriend
Nonepic: Cloak: Charisma +5, Diplomacy +7
    Epic:
Cloak: Charisma +9, Diplomacy +20, Exceptional Cha skills +3, Sheltering +6, Green slot
    Clicky: Summon Dragonfriend 1x/day.
(Dragonfriend is a CR40 baby dragon that aids you for 10 minutes! He's a small baby blue dragon with 10,000 hp, but limited offensive ability like all summons.. Breath deals 350 dmg, DC45 reflex for half. Melee dmg about 90 a swing, moderate swing speed. Wing buffet ability can knockdown enemies (DC45 str/dex save).

    Ring of the Stormreaver Prophecy
Nonepic: Ring: Wisdom +5 , Resistance Save +2
Epic: Ring: Wisdom +9, Insightful Resistance +2, Divine Augmentation IX (+2 CL and MCL on divine spells), Green slot
    Clicky: Discipher the Prophecy:
You activate the rings ancient powers to parlay with the stormreaver. Depending on your diplomacy, the stormreaver may aid, or smite you.
(This would work like a mini version of Tea with the queen):
    -1-29 modified roll - failure:
Suffer 100 electrical damage as the stormreaver smites you from above!
In addition suffer a -2 penalty to a random saving throw for 5 minutes.
    Success:
    Favor of the Stormreaver (DC30)
+2 Storm bonus to Wisdom and you gain the effects of call lightning storm for 2 minutes
    Critical sucess (DC75):
    Grand favor of the Stormreaver:
+2 Storm bonus to all stats, and you gain the effects of weather control: A random enemy near you will be knocked down - no save every 6 seconds. All enemies around you will be slowed. (red/purple named immune). Duration: 3 minutes.
Ultimate favor of the Stormreaver (DC100):
In addition to the benefits of Grand favor, You gain the ability to fly! Duration: 10 seconds. (heh maybe a bit silly, but hey it gives us a goal to get to 100 diplo (or 80 and roll a 20) for fun, and 10 seconds wouldnt be long enough to get anywhere weird to cause bugs)

More item ideas to come, stay tuned..

That's what we'd get.. In perfect world anyways.

What we will actaully get (in 2014, December, Update 18):
Tor, as it is now, cept severely toned down ,way too easy.
Raid not epic'd. Explore not epic'd. Sidequests not epic'd.
    Madstone/Pop/Crucible epic. Again very easy.
Drops premade boring, no slots epics. Heavily nerfed from current versions shown on compendium.
No quest have epic chests or fragments.
Forced to run thru lowbie explorer area, no epic option.

A new teleport clicky (even if it's an epic item) would be nice.

The "broken" version may look better as:
    Shattered Giantcraft Siberys Compass
    ML: 18
    Search +15, Spot +15, Resistance +4
    Clicky: Dimension Door 1x/Day
    Description:
This compass has been enchanted beyond the limits of what is now possible. Unfortunately, a large crack runs down the dragonshard needle, somehow causing it to always point back from where you came.

My suggestion when it comes to loot is to ditch the Scroll/Seal/Shard system (or SSS system) for future Ebberon epics.

Gianthold recently actually has a recently added decent alternative to the SSS system: the Seal of the Stormreaver. Currently, you can upgrade an item with the Seal of the Stormreaver. Why not add the Epic Seal of the Stormreaver? The Epic Seal of the Stormreaver would replace the SSS system for GH, since the SSS system is too grindy and not economical. Yes, I said economical since one new ingredient is easier to trace in bags than the stupidly exponential explosion that we get with the SSS system, each new Challenge added to the game and any other silly new systems that involves multiple new ingredients (not to mention the asinine practice of arbitrarily making each new system unbound, BTA or BTC).

The Devs could make it so that the Epic Seal of the Stormreaver can't be used without acquiring the current Seal of the Stormreaver first. Personally, I'd make an alternate route to Epic items also by allowing players to skip the current Seal of the Stormreaver step by including a small amount of Epic Tokens with the Epic Seal of the Stormreaver upgrade. (Of course that would hinge on the Devs actually letting Epic Fragments and Tokens to drop in quests!)

For example, if the current Reaver's Fate items were to become Epic, the steps would be the following:
    * Base level 14 item + current Seal of the Stormreaver = upgraded level 14 item
    * Upgraded level 14 item + Epic Seal of the Stormreaver = Epic item
    * Base level 14 item + Epic Seal of the Stormreaver + some # of Epic Tokens = Epic item

If non-Reaver's Fate items are being made Epic and only Epic, just skip the use of the current Seal of the Stormreaver in the above example.

For epic gianthold go with epic relics instead of shard, seal and scrolls.
And I vote no on +5 tomes; we've had enough stat powercreep due to epic destinies.

A lot of the item suggestions are much more powerful than older epic gear (im assuming you expect sands, von etc to be upgraded at some point to these levels)
    Other than that good ideas

Youd have to vote more so "Remove +5 tomes from the game" . They already exist in EE Lolthraid loot tables. So having them drop there, and not other new high lvl EE raids is unbalanced imo. They exist, they should drop.

Far as not using the in-place epic system, I think its a bad idea. They already tried messing around hardcore with how loot works a gilllion times. Never seen a system that worked better at making loot tough enough to get to warrant having really nice stats.

Plus the scroll system encourages capped players to continue to play the quest as intended (kill the monsters) rather then zerg thru causing dungeon alert and server lag.. (As we do for most of the U14/15 content when we are loot farming due to its design)

the other issue with no or single item upgrade:
Day 2: Veteran players: Well got all the new loot, see you guys in 2-4 months for the next one. Simply too easy like that.

Im not suggestion the same lvl of rarity as Desert-Rare epics.. Id like high droprates on scrolls and seals.. Just to make those Epic shards rare enough to make people excited when they drop.. Rather then just go
"oh yea another one of those, they drop all the time, no big deal"

And its exactly the reason I set up the idea of lower-tier premade epics in the explorere area. Thats exactly designed for you players who prefer not grinding the ingredients. The items are NEARLY as good, but insta-getable. Should appease both parties.

A lot of the item suggestions are much more powerful than older epic gear (im assuming you expect sands, von etc to be upgraded at some point to these levels)

I do expect some upgrades. But keep in mind these are meant to be next-tier epics. EG: ML23 as stated.. Thus higher powered. The old epics could use an upgrade to at least lootgen status tho (+8 stats, more spell power, etc). Though they shouldnt get a higher ml, as that would annoy players who want to continue to use them pre epic lvl.

I like most of the ideas Shade, but personally speaking I can't stand Reavers Fate. Unless that gets a real makeover then I hope nothing in the pack requires that, and has shards dropping in side quests. But that's just me being selfish.

Do you really think they are going to put the Seal/Shard/Scroll system in Gianthold, when they have the brand new system they use in Eveningstar ?

Seriously there is absolutely no reason they are going to use that old system nobody is happy with.
On G-Land : Flavilandile, Blacklock, Yaelle, Millishande, Larilandile, Gildalinde, Tenalafel, and many other...

Possibly, but the commendation system was not without it's flaws, making powerful items very easy to acquire and lets not forget Eveningstar = realms, all Eberron Epics still use Shard/seal/scroll. Why would Gianthold be any different?

Whilst drop rates were a point of contention the '4 pieces of the puzzle' I think 'nobody' is going a bit far.

    Wait and see I guess.

Did you not review the op? As i've shown, It would not be a matter of "putting it in". It's already there.. Mouse over the items, checke the compendium. It already has it in place. It would be MORE work to take it out.
Seriously there is absolutely no reason they are going to use that old system nobody is happy with.
Nobody? I think i count as someone. And Clearly im happy with it, else I wouldnt of suggested it. As are the majority of the players I regularly group with. Most have expressed thoughts about prefering the old system.

I really had a ton of fun running lots of epics trying to get the best stuff over the years. Having to really put some effort in and earn my gear expands the life of the game and the amount of time I can play it with my friends. While im personally nto that loot centric and would play the tough content regardles, sadly most are not.. so my only chance to group with players I like to play with, is if I find content with stuff they want. Give everyone everything they want and they disappear off to play guild wars. Doesnt work for me.

The old system has its flaws sure.

But the new one is just the EVEN OLDER system where in everyone gets all the loot because its really easy to farm for it. I hardly find it ideal. It prevents quests from getting strong loot as the named items become a dime a dozen on a the auction house and everyone ends up becoming a cookie cutter build.

I mean honestly, every freakin monk wears the exact same outfit now (Spider-spun Caparison) just like every sorc on khyber wears the same robe now (spidersilk). It's pretty boring having everyone look the same and have the same stats and appearance. Were becoming a clone army, nearly as bad as the DT armor days.

And yea it would be hardly surprising for them to use it for Eberon epics. They only said they would do it different for Forgoten relms ones. Hardly would be a shocker for them to go back to a old system either.

I mean um we already forgot that:
Update 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 all did not use the epic shard/seal/scroll system.. Then U13 did? Not exactly something they have to use everytime sure, but also not something thats been abandoned.

I would dump the whole seal/shard scroll system all together.
Setup the ingredient barter vendors to trade in old seals/shards for appropriate ingredients.

Fix the ingredients so the fit a structured system not some random similar named item that makes them difficult to find. Ideally group related ingredeints group together (like the collectible bag)
at worst revise the naming structure to include the area it belongs with..
    Such as..
    Cannith Essence of Greater Air

    !Consistancy!
    Such as..
Fix the quest names removing "The" from the sort structure, there are still quests taht sort with "The" and some that have "The" and dont sort with it.
While you Devs are there... Fix the quests so they have 1 name not a quest name and a adventure compendium name for the same quest.

Change all BTC ingredients to BTA, Make basic ingredients unbound(non-epics or lower tier ingredients), I am ok with all Epic ingredients BTA.

Ultimately I dont have high hopes for Gianthold. I suspect it is the 2 year old shelved version that leaked onto lamaland and never made it to live... dusted off and "hey look a new epic raid"...

I would hope they would tweak it up and add 3 separate quests, one for each of the epic dragons.
Current setup has traps after completing the quest with dragons as optional so you can never get the trap bonus xp. May be humurous to see the power rangers (different coloured epic dragon armours) running around.

Seriously there is absolutely no reason they are going to use that old system nobody is happy with.
Yes as they should. The only flaws to the "old system" was drops rates in Sands and making seals BTA, they need to be unbound while keeping shards BTA. They did a very good job on Fens, House D & P drops rates.
It required a little work to get those items while still not having better odds at winning the lottery than pulling that one item you wanted, looking at you Mr. Sands area.

The FR epic system, errr upgrade system, is a complete joke. Easy to get, easy to upgrade, easy to trade or place on the AH with upgrades (for some items). Players care more about XP from FR then about the items they will want.

    Now to OP

First they need to ditch Reavers Fate as an Epic raid. 30 minute beat down in a small room with traps and air elementals = BORING! Waste of dev time, players won't like it.

Turn TOR into the Epic Raid for Gianthold. This would be the best raid EVER.

First room could be amazing with attacks coming from all directions.
Make it a challenging fight on EH / EE.

Once that was completed, the party would be taken to the 3 way split for the dragons, otherwise it would be
    a very long raid.

3 dragons to kill with each room having an Epic Raid chest.
Gives players the option to complete 1,2, or all 3 dragons with bonus chest for all 3 dragons killed.
Modest amount of trash mobs to reach each dragon.
Shrine after each dragon on EE, remove shrine before dragons on EE.

They could even make it a 2 for 1 deal,

Gianthold TOR 6 man would be the same as TOR now without dragons.
Gainthold TOR Raid would be as I outlined above.

Now only if the players actually got to design raids/quests....that's how I would make the raid for Epic Gianthold.

The current Epic Jorgundal has a yellow slot, seeker 6, and I want to say something else as well.

    Thanks Tobril!

So they didn't up the speed at all? Pretty underwhelming.

Right now I only get use out of it in TOD after putting my boots on.

Keep in mind that it may not be that way when they finish and release epic gianthold.

While there was a brief window where gianthold was epic and playable on live,
it was never properly finished so who knows what we'll end up with.

Would be really nice to see interesting loot that can currently replace some of the standard end-game gear set-ups. I've always thought the game gets stale when you stop having goals to reach; for instance, once you get the eSoS on a barbarian, there are very few, if any other items you would want to work for. Regardless, I think this list looks great so far and am interested to see where these things fit in.
