You know how the epic multiple weapon effect enchantments (ex. Debilitating, Erosive, Rebel, Destroyer, Scintillating) are making random weapons fun again? You should start applying the same logic to high level skill boost items.
I know you’re thinking “But I made it where you could have a prefix/suffix skill items.” But, ML: 24 +15 Disabling of +15 Open Lock Braciers aren’t very exciting. In fact, All the +6 Stat/+15 Skill gear I collected over the weekend went into the essence crunching device. Heck, I can come up with a list of named +6 Stat/+15 Skill items that way better than the random ML:24 versions. It would be really nice to get some *wow* factor back into skill items.
I came up with some examples for you:
Acrobat: (Choose 2) Balance, Jump, Tumble
Ingenuity: (Choose 2) Search, Disable Device, Open Lock, Repair, UMD*
Liar: (Choose 2) Bluff, Diplomacy, UMD*
Perception: (Choose 2) Listen, Spot, Search
Persuasion/Persuasive: (Choose 2) Bluff, Diplomacy, Haggle, Intimidate, Perform, UMD*
Resolve: Concentration, Intimidation
Stealth: Hide, Move Silently
You could also take it a step further and tie certain skill bonuses to low level enchantments.
Examples:
Stalwart Faith: Choose 1: Hallowed/Sacred/Silver Flame + Choose 1: Concentration or Intimidate
Mariner: Underwater Action and Swim skill
Showman: Choose 1: Lesser Swiftness/Dodge +1% and Tumble
Leaf on the Wind: Dodge +2% and Feather Fall
Psychic Healer: Heal Skill plus a psionic or alchemical or equipment devotion bonus**.
Insightful Repair: Repair Skill plus a psionic or alchemical or equipment reconstruction bonus**.
Superior Shadow: Hide Skill bonus and either a concealment or incorpeality bonus.
Superior Silent Moves: Move Silently bonus and Inherent Sonic Resistance 10.
*UMD would probably be calculated as +1 per 5 ranks of the other skill. It’s not like we don’t already have these bonuses on other equipment (ex. Seven Fingered Gloves, Spyglass, Big Top, Spare Hand, Epic Fullplate of the Ringleader, Epic Silver Concord).
** I figured these bonuses wouldn’t be O.P as they come from other sources and only affect recuperative effects. At the very least the equipment healer bonus version would be nice for Paladins and Rangers.
