I was thinking about some options for getting monk splashes and tanks back to action. Here they go:
Option 1
One idea would be that each modifier in wisdom would grant a higher-than-1 bonus to AC while centered. Two, three, any number that would make a difference comparing to the absence of armor in total AC.
Option 2
The water stance could make the dodge cap roof higher. So it would give people reason to invest in it. Make they give + 5/10/15/20% to dodge cap.
Option 3
Make the defensive stances give X times bonus from items scores while centered, like sorcerers have double spell points. Examples:
AC bonus +8 from an item would give:
- +10 AC (8*1.25) for a Disciple of Pebbles/Puddles;
- +12 AC (8*1.50) for an Adept of Rock/Rain;
- +14 AC (8*1.75) for a Master of Stone/Sea;
- +16 AC (8*2.00) for a Grandmaster of Mountains/Oceans.
Dodge bonus +4% from an item would give:
- +5% dodge (4*1.25) for a Disciple of Puddles;
- +6% dodge (4*1.50) for an Adept of Rain;
- +7% dodge (4*1.75) for a Master of Sea;
- +8% dodge (4*2.00) for a Grandmaster of Oceans.
PRR bonus +20 from an item would give:
- +25 PRR (20*1.25) for a Disciple of Pebbles;
- +30 PRR (20*1.50) for an Adept of Rock;
- +35 PRR (20*1.75) for a Master of Stone;
- +40 PRR (20*2.00) for a Grandmaster of Mountains.
Non integer numbers would be truncated.
Option 4
Leave it for the enhancement pass. During the system revamp, you could add several enhancements that would provide additional bonuses for AC, dodge and PRR, related to the stances. These bonuses could be flat numbers, item modifiers or percentages.
Pros and Cons for each one:
Option 1) pros and cons
- It gives monk splashes strength on defense again;
- It makes pure monks strong on AC with invests on winsdom while not needing any defensive stance;
- Chosing the number could prove itself being hard, as it could be over or underpowered, specially considering the need of just one level of monk.
Option 2) pros and cons
- Thematically correct. Monks should be best at dodging;
- If you invest in it you will get the reward;
- Only pure monks will get the true benefit;
- Can cookie cutter builds if not accompanied by other PRR and AC changes.
Option 3) pros and cons
- Keep the importance of equipment on the total defense, while synergizing with the build options;
- Numbers can be easily handled for future changes, just like the [w] change;
- Only pure monks will get the true benefit;
- If the dodge cap remains, the dodge option will be trivialized by the PRR.
Option 4) pros and cons
- Most flexibility;
- Only pure monks will get the true benefit;
- More waiting.
Now if you ask my opinion, a combination of the 1, 2 and 3 would resolve the issues right now.
Only matter would be tweaking the numbers. But this can be done in a few weeks on Lamannia.
Option 1 would give pure monks and splashes a bump on AC, while 2 and 3 would give pure monks options for speciallyzing on tanking while making splashes get increased benefits with levels of monk trained.
I appreciate the feedback, specially a dev bumping by
