    Default quests optional xp reward

first of all, im sure you noticed (very sure) that very often in quests you can hear comments like "we dont do that opt, too low exp for it", well i did and i heard it often enough to get the feeling that it should be changed, so here is my brainwave about it:

all exp rewarded for completing optionals should be removed and replaced by % bonus to base quest exp, same way as all conquest/ransack etc.

this would achieve few things, first of all it would make optionals actualy have meaning in quests xp wise, second thing reward exp for completeing opt would scale on diffrent difficoulties much better as it would be based on base xp reward.

main idea is to make ANY optional have meaning in game, and i think it would be a good way to do it.

Optionals are already based on a percentage of the base XP of the quest, and are also subject to repetition penalties. The percentage itself varies from quest to quest and optional to optional, but the method is already in place. As an optional, they can be done or not done, based on how much effort vs reward they require.

What exactly are you proposing to change?

original thought was to rotateing it all around, instead of being rewarded xp at opt completion, to be rewarded a % bonus to exp rewared at Quest completion.

that way opts would become a exp reward boosts instead of being mini rewards by themselves

I think what he's asking for is to make quest optionals similar to breakables and conquests bonuses, instead of a stand-alone XP reward.

So, for example, if you rescue the captive female in Mired in Kobolds you get X% of the base XP reward, same as if you broke a certain amount of breakable objects in a quest.

    I like the idea. /signed

One problem with this is I can think of quite a few optionals that are specifically designed as rewards for getting partway through the quest: Desert Caravan, Devil Assault, even the Shroud. This change would make it so that completing 99% of said quests would generate 0% reward, and that would be frustrating.

The second and more fundamental problem is that the reason people don't do X optional is that it doesn't meet their personal criteria for reward vs. cost. If you're going to make the % sufficiently high, why not just make the flat value sufficiently high? Wouldn't that be easier and more direct?

So...you want to make optional XP awarded only at quest completion? No thanks. That doesnt in any way increase the incentive for doing the optional(s). It just makes the "good" optionals less appealing (because you can fail the quest and not get the reward for them) and does nothing really for the "bad" optionals. I prefer getting the optionals as I complete them, rather than at the end, as if for any reason the quest is not completed, I still get the optionals.
