In my 30+ of playing dnd not one of my girlfriends who gamed (most of them) would ever play a "healer" class in fact my current wife loved playing a bounty hunter in swg and killed lots of jedi. Here she doesnt like the game much no world to explore no houses and cities like swg but on the rare occasion she plays she likes fighters or monks

Yah my cleric isnt that great at dps but very good at healing and has 23 bursts or auras right now she can do some but better at letting others do it.

If we consider adding classes wouldn't Warlock be a better choice?

After thinking about it for a while the Healer class sounds splendid. Maybe we could even complement it with an arcane caster class that doesn't have any offense spells but excels at buffing and a specialist class that doesn't have access to sneak attack or spells but is super awesome at opening locks and disabling traps.

    Sounds... dull.

We have this already, it's called a Bard.

    Healer Class ? Sounds great.

Question is : Who's going to play it ?

Especially since this game is so much combat-oriented ?
"You are a Tiefling. And a Cleric, with the Domain of the Sun. Doesn't that contradict each other ?" "No, all my friends are playing evil. I found that so boring that I decided to be on the good side. And, besides, Sun and Fire, where is the difference, really ?"

Yeah there's such people, mostly in raids, be it from raid leaders insisting on a dedicated healer, or people tagging along because healers are welcome on parties.
The big issue is precisely that the class wouldn't be versatile or balanced to stand on its own in quests.

The Warlock and the Psion seems the likely candidates for DDO's next class.
And mind Psion has both Vigor and Repair lines, along with lots of all-around offensive, buff and support power.
Warlock coding might be easier to pull tho, maybe just copy arcane bolt and call it eldritch
Then figure how to trigger the spell-like effects on blast impact.

    I'd rather see Psions first.
