How is docent of defiance good at all in the raid??? It provides energy resistance, which you don't see in the fight against lailat. And what do you mean, activate? Isn't it a passive docent? I personally never went for DoD because to me, it is useless and you can get better energy resists with the spell.

Reading the last few pages of this thread brings back my memories of learning to solo this raid. I had done the quest a few times in a group, but I decided I was going to TR my first life sorc, and I wanted the torc before I did it. I'm not in a real active guild, so I came to the conclusion I was going to have to learn to solo.

I went through the whole process -- first, I went a couple of times miserably failing while trying to kite. Eventually someone told me I had to shield block. A few more fails later, I crafted a mithral shield with life shield and axe block. That helped, but it was really all about learning when it was safe to cast various spells (both offense and heals).

It probably took about 12 tries total before my first solo completion, but if I can learn to do this with my old man reflexes, I suspect anyone can learn to do it.

On that first solo completion, I actually died. She was near death and I had a stack of cold DoTs on her. She went into her frenzy and I missed my reconstruct cue and she smacked me with another round of damage while I was still low on hp -- somehow she and I died almost simultaneously. I cursed for a minute and then realized that a res shrine spawns when she dies. I was able to res and loot. The loot was pure ****, but I was on my way!

After ~15-16 more solo runs, I got my torc from the 20th completion list!

wow I didn't know that DoD had that....that's cool!

And a great story torkzed I should also probably craft a life shield item..it would help in many many quests....

I also just realized that my concop item requires a double imbued shard.....Instead of 1 extra shroud run I need to do like 4 now....

Congrads. This is an interesting thread. Someone comes here looking for advice on soloing a below-level regular vale quest and ends up being advised on how to solo a raid. But good job!

As for the torc, it takes a lot of runs and depends on your "real life luck". Very few people I know actually get their torc from chests. Most people get their torc from their 20th completion lists, which means 20 runs ... or more if you're unlucky and don't get it in the list the first time.
