Default Anyone else feeling the same

So i have just finished another weekend of ddo and had a little bit of a stressing time. Maybe you guys have noticed this too. I played this weekend and i had a couple good pugs but most were a train wreck. I am by no means in any way, shape, or form a amazing player but i do know the game well enough to learn my role in a group. If i am the healer and they need a dedicated one i heal. If they dont i have alittle fun with spells or with my weapons. When im the trapper i hit the traps no question asked. From my assasin to my arcane archer trapper. When im the tank i grab agro. Still getting the hang of that at higher levels.

Point though before i make you fall asleep.I play in these pugs were either the group doesnt listen to the leader or they dont know there role. Now i used to just play with my guild but since the update they either play epics and get there destinies or they have stopped playing as much because of this or that. Real life does come first and i strongly believe that. But latley i can not get or start a good group to save my life.Sometime literally when im playing my barbarian.lol

Has anyone else felt this way as of late? Is it just this server? Am i doomed to have to solo everthing?

I like the leveling process most about this game and thats what i look for evertime i log on. who is running xp. I just thought id see if i am alone out there in ghallanda.

It is a bit hit and miss with pugs, but from my experience most go well, (or well enough).

It depends on your play style aswell, if you like to zerg / smash XP per minute then a pug really isn't the best option, have you tried looking / asking around for channels ?

I've found that for TR activities it's best to have a semi-static group to run with, or even static if you can get that organised.

If your at a loss for a group and your operating around oceanic (australian) play times (6pm - 10pm) weekdays and all hours on weekends, feel free to give me a yell and I'm sure we can get something going if I've got toons in your level range.

The group I run with isn't "serious", but we do smash the XP per minute when we get going.

My toons are all on ghallanda :

    Macross : lvl 25 wizard
    malefent : lvl 20 monk

    MrJingle : Lvl 9 sorc
    SimpleJack : lvl 7 Barb
    ederron : lvl 3 cleric

If any of the above are in your range and your having troubles just send me a tell and we can work something out, I hate to see people having trouble levelling. And I know how hard it can be when you don't have anyone who is willing to run repeats and basically just get the XP.

Maybe I am just lucky but I have much more luck finding good pugs here than I do on the other servers I play so much so I have pretty much given up my other servers

It does seem harder to get non-epic stuff going, but I still mostly have success with PUGs.

I did fail a Ritual Sacrifice for the first time ever tonight by allowing Paetus to die at the boss. That was a good team fail though. Meaning, a few of us (myself included, died at the first named guy in the quest before everyone had entered. To be fair, I was playing a barbarian. Seemed only fitting to rush in, and chop up stuff before being held by those filthy earth elementals.

By the time we ended the quest, the group had experienced several deaths. I shrugged, moved on, and jumped on a PUG that did a couple of Vale quests on elite without real issue.

That's just the way it goes if you're in a smallish guild.
Too many toons to list, but the mains are Achewon, Westudi, and Shonufff.

Well to any of my fellow ghallandaians if there are and static groups out ther. i do have a couple more higher lvl toons as well and if your running and static groups and need another i would love to join. just let me know the time and lvl range and ill see what toons i have at lvl. If i can i would love to play with u. I dont mind have multipul static groups that just run like once a week for a couple hours. Just searching i guess for some experienced players to play with. Ill keep pugging in hopes to find some or that my guild with get there real lives worked out and be back to the game soon.
Thanks for making me feel better that its not just my own rotten luck.

Think its like the 2nd poster said....bit of hit and miss.

Though I had my share of grief running a few pugs this weekend (but also had a couple awesome runs), sometimes you just have to laugh inside or else you will cry, some examples, was on my lvl 6/7 FVS (who btw is definitely not a hjealer - but then again why would i slot CSW when guild pots are CSW).

1st Pug attempt: STK elite, BYOH's. 2 people hit it, we enter, they immediately summon hirelings....sigh but i say to myself....maybe they think byoh is bring your own hireling.

2nd attempt: Proof is in the poison, be self sufficient, elite. 2 people hit it....was just an awesome textbook run 20 min...no deaths

3rd attempt: Small Problem, elite, be self sufficient. 1st person who hits it has 54 hps, I ask him if they will be ok? They said they will just summon a hireling, I tell them self sufficient does not mean that you can afford a hireling...some whining about why I wont heal, why they cant summon...drops group.
2nd person who hits it, fighter with 170 hps...cool lets rock & roll, going well until the earth elementals when he runs around and aggs like 4 of em, then calls over the chat HJEAL MEH & DING! I said dude...play smart, only activate 1 or 2, drink some CSW pots, he says sorry just rolled up this toon I have no pots.....and again I have to ask him does he know what self sufficient is?

And these are for groups I put the LFM up, I am terrified of joiniing a pug when my class symbol is a FVS at the moment, I seriously didn't spend 7 past lives to be a hjeal bot and these are just lvl 4-6 quests anyways.

So i just mix it up, run a few of my own LFM's, solo, some channel runs....and most of the time I have fun.
Main toons: IronThatcher (tank & box breaker for inquisitives), Mehhh (ranger)...pion of HS...zug zug

My problem hasn't been PuGs with bad players, it has been getting full PuGs period. It has been extremely hit-or-miss lately. Not too long ago you could fill up a Shroud run in minutes. Now? Notsomuch.

At mid-level I have an Arcane Archer (Pangrael) and a fleshy wizzy (Panmorgan - who is not a PM) at lvl 14. I also have a lvl 18 rogue trapper / assassin (Panifin) that's approaching cap.

Most of the guildies are either at or below lvl 10, or already at cap and doing epic stuff, and virtually all of them solo or duos. But I run PuGs almost exclusively.

I'm on anywhere from 8:00 pm to 1:00 am Eastern Standard Time (Eastern US), and I'm VIP. So send me or my alts (check signature) a tell if you want someone in my level ranges. Reference this post when you send the tell so I know it is not a blind invite.
Antipan, Pandargon, Pandolin, Panifin, Panmorgan, Pangrael, and all other things "pan-ed"...

Step 1: do not play a Barbarian or Fighter.
Step 2: put up an LFM for only your class.
Step 3: have tons of fun.
Step 4: never expect anyone to play "their role" again.
Step 5: continue having tons of fun.

    Default Pugs

.....usually I have pretty good luck with pug groups. But I have had my bad ones too, like yesterday. We had me and a guildie, and 2 pugs. The 2 pugs would not only not listen, they had no common sense. We needed a little crowd control, and the sorc had none because he was a cannon, ok, that's fine, but then do some damage at least, lol!

.....also if you join In the Flesh or whatever that quest is on elite, the person hosting it is in some guild you never heard of, and everybody got less hit points than your wizard, it's probaby going to define the word misery!

Sinds update 14 the game got a lot harder if you try and do elites at level.

Also, the xp stones caused a whole pack of high levels to arive without a clue on how to play their class.

Sure, there are some very poor players out there who aren't being effective at ANY role.

But before you judge that someone doesn't know their role, keep in mind the possibility that YOU don't know their role, and they are actually playing their chosen role to the T. Class does not equal role, and someone is not automatically being either incorrect or ineffective if their chosen role is different from the stereotype for their class icon.

I assume you are talking about favored souls that are nukes or split class of other stuff. I have no problem if the say right out they are not healers or they want to be more mellee or caster play style. And by all means i say it up front as well with certain builds of my own. Im not asking the tipical favored sould or cleric to be that or the assasin to be able to do traps. All i ask is that when the leader ask them if they can do ths or that they say it up front.Byoh,be self sufficient, and o on. Perfect example. Leader ask can you hit the int runes on tears. A wizard say yes i am int based. Get in and the wizard has a 20 int at lvl9 with a +4 item on,+2 from ship. was it the leaders fault for not asking exactly"do you have a 24 int?". Or the lvl9 pure wizard fault for failing his role? Luckly my assasin that went in had a 26 int.

I find I'm becoming more and more playing with my guild (of 3 people, myself included).

On these iterations I'm around 14 on both the toons I'm leveling right now. When I've not played just with my small guild, I've pugged - and had essentially no problems at all. There's always been one or two truly solid players / likely TRs and the others have been fun at least. No drama, good times.

For me I really feel like the random group thing was exterminated with the release of the Xpac and the XP stones.

My current TR and that was with 8 free levels because I used and XP stone myself is taking me longer this time than my full 20 3rd life TR did last time.

I feel like there is a lot of resentment and a general bad vibe since the Xpac...things seem more limited as far a pugging goes.........I'm just happy this is my last climb to 25 then it's off to other games and a random visit to DDO when I feel the taste for it.

Im kidding... yeah PUGs are really hit or miss lately, seems like the later you get on the better chance you have of getting a group together free of riff raff... for 99% of content a guildy and I run stuff without putting up LFMs, if you are in the 15-17 range hit Llewndyn or Liamrage up in game and you are welcome to run with us, we are currently messing around with the madness chain and necro 4...

Other than that, outside of a guildy you like, yeah you're pretty much right on with your statement.

    Default Uhhh

Good lord!Okay I like to play fast and loose except when it comes to raids.I never enter a quest that I can't solo, when I post its usually for "Ip dont call me cain if ur not able".Excepting for perhaps traps or runes that require a certain stat I dont really care as long as you can handle it.Now if you cant handle it just say so,no shame in a baby toon that hasnt gotten geared out or still learning the ropes with it.What ticks me off is people who just dont do anything in a quest and expect me to do everything while they pike. The reasoning for that is that the dungeons scale now.if it were like before then I wouldnt even care then. The worst sort of people are the sleepers, they know the quest, the join it and wait for the perfect opportunity to sabotage it because you didnt say bless you when they sneezed 2 years ago.

I play mostly with guild mates, so little to no pugging for me. That takes away the worry and stress of pugging at this point. I'm fortunate to have found and been accepted in a guild that fits my needs and wants in DDO.
Once upon a time, I was part of a team, and we saved some children. That was long ago and far away, and, yes, I am that old.
