I'm trying to go completionist, but my playtime is limited and it seems each life they bring out a new class almost... But it started as "I want that feat", but now it's moved to 'Wow I'm learning a lot about classes". I would have never tried monk but when I did I found it to be a lot of fun. I'm on my 6th life right now and I'm trying something new again.

I agree, do a 3rd TR and see how you like it first. It's a lot of XP to get.

For me it's not really the destination but the journey now... I'm enjoying it.

Even if you exclude the passive PL abilities like the extra HP from barbarian, and the passive Healing Amp from Paladin; the +1 to damage from monk and UMD from artificer, it's still an amazing feat.

Let's assume you have a +3 tome for each stat. Now someone comes by and says, hey I'm going to give you a +5 tome for each stat. Would you say that's not worth it? I know people who have spent quite a bit of effort trying to get a +4, Completionist give +2 to all stats that stacks with your +3 tome, making it +5 to all stats. Additionally it gives +2 to all skills, Intimidate, Diplo, Bluff, UMD, etc. +2 to UMD is quite a big deal for some. This all stacks.

Just saying, if you view it as a project and just enjoy the game while doing it, the reward is there.

If yes, go ahead and TR, play the game and enjoy yourself.
If no, work on something more constructive, like planting a garden or remodeling your kitchen, and leave your recreation time enjoyable.
This is my mindset as well. I look at a completionist character as a fun side project which provides a built in road map for my next TRs.

I agree the feat itself isnt as worth it as before, but the journey is the reward imo

You get to meet some strange people, have some laughs along the way and as Dj said you get to know all the classes a little better.

Im going for completionist too but mainly for fun and to say to myself ive done it. If its for the feat, don't waste your time tbh its become... obsolete, and make sure if you do decide to go for it try joining some friends or a nice group of people in the same boat.

I thought about it for a while before and pugged and gave up on second life lol then i found a solid group and started again and im now 7th life (Yeh it gets painful playing some classes i just hate) and can't wait for every new life to roll around.

Also, it'l get you out of the PvP drama zone more xD

Turbine would have to PAY me to make a completionist...as it is I am a purest...gave up the ALT madness....and only have one character whom is a 4x Drow PM....this is my 4th and final life and it's the happiest I have ever been with this game in 5+ years.

IMO......a person who plays 12 months as one class trumps someone who played 12 months scattered among many classes.....losing sleep over inventory......and just in general going crazy trying to ascend to a godhood that will never come...because the devs in the end will never allow it but will happily string them along to make $$$.

    That's just my opinion tho

Turbine devalued past lives to the point there is little reason to tr anymore. ofc, they also devalued existing loot and made destinies so very overpowered, coupled with the new hello kitty difficulty changes, there is ZERO endgame in ddo now.

The power of the feat is not the reward for completionist.....it is a fine feat as ate some o the other stacked benefits you can aquire....like +9spell pen.....but these ate side affects of completionist.

Completionist is a focus for you play for 18 months (some less, others like me longer.). It is additionally and probably more importantly to me a key into a pretty exclusive club of players. You will know each other and many other players on the server will recognize you for completing this insane effort.

It is insane by the way, let their be no confusion it was added to the game as a joke and look what we crazys have done.

It is pretty cool to be a completionist, but power creep from the feat itself is the least of the real rewards.

I have completionist on my main character and I think it was worth the effort. Will I do it again? Doubtful. I have a lot of characters that I neglected during the time that I did completionist and want to get them going again.

If you know your playstyle you should level around your preferences. If you know you hate playing a class then run it as your 1st (via +# Lesser hearts) or 2nd incarnation. If you want to try and fit in Arcane Archer on each incarnation then do it. (I played all my incarnations as a human and tried to work in some rogue skills each life as I like doing the rogue thing.) Just try to make your character as useful and as solo friendly as you can.

I started with the melee incarnations and moved over to the casters and then to the gish classes.

Rogue (From Ranger via lesser hearts), Barbarian, Fighter, Monk, Wizard, Ranger, Cleric, Paladin, Bard (From Artificer via lesser hearts), Sorceror, Artificer, Favored Soul, Druid, and finally… Artificer.

You may also want to take epic destinies into consideration. Each life you can easily knock out an ED or two. And since there are more classes than E.D.s you can also skip a destiny on a life that you hate.
Things worthy of Standing Stone going EXTREME PREJUDICE™ on.:
    • Epic and Legendary Mysterious ring upgrades, please.
    • Change the stack size of filigree in the shared bank to 50. The 5 stack makes the shared bank worthless for storing filigree in a human usable manner.
    • Fixing why I don't connect to the chat server for 5 minutes when I log into a game world.
    • Fixing the wonky Lightning Sphere and Tactical Det firing by converting them to use alchemist spell arcing.
    • Redoing the drop rates of tomes in generic and raid loot tables.

    Thumbs up

[QUOTE=Kareena;4681792]I do not think the end game power of the completionist feat is currently worth the time spent doing it. For power its more worth it to simply do 3x lives of the classes that will benefit your chosen class.

this is so very true, if your final build is melee what would spell pen or extra sp do for your toon, nothing. If your final build is a caster, why do you need +3 to hit? Very good advise imo

I've been Considering starting the grind for completionist on my Ranger, Araphina.
I Was thinking maybe an AA build every life.

I guess I'm just here for your opinions. Should I do it? Is it worth it?
If so, how would you recommend going about it? I've heard that going for the classes that will most benefit your final life first, in case you get tired of the grind?

If not, would it still be worth it to get the main past lives for my final build? (in this case 3 monk, 3 ranger, and possibly 3 palli)In the current state of the game, with ED, level cap 25, 2 epic feat slots, and all the new gear, are past lives even really worth the grind anymore? (Keep in mind, my ranger is still a first life, 28 pnt elven ranger.. a VERY well geared toon, but still...lol)
IMO, it's definitely not worth it. It was a cool, but not necessary, feat when level cap was 20 and no EDs. Now with EDs, gear, two feats, one ability point increase the value of Completionist feat is almost zero, IMO. Now PL feats do still play a role depending on build. Couple Barb, Couple Fighter and Couple Monk lives will add a nice icing on any melee build cake. However, grinding through all the casting classes for unlocking a feat that gives a marginal gain makes very little sense in today's DDO.

Feat is not all that great, but not so bad either. It's more of a "I've done it" thing.

I did it because I don't see anything else to do than TR in this game really...
