Default Bard Songs (Make them one strum)

Bard songs are very fun and I enjoy playing bards a lot (as I have 4 level 20 variations), but I've found that over some time, with the many new addition of song variations through the updates, you end up waiting one full minute to actually benefit from all the bards' songs, not including the individual ones per person, the cooldowns themselves are quite annoying. I think you should make all songs (with the exception of fascinate of course) one strum similar to a Minstrel's songs in LoTRO (last time I played many years ago minstrels could use one strum abilities) it would make much more efficient bards and people not worrying about waiting multiple minutes for bard songs.

It does seem like the bard songs take way to long to play, especially if you are trying to do each of them. Getting a party to wait can be a bit of a pain.

Also I see no real reason why they shouldn't play more quickly it isn't like any of them are super over-powered.

With all my characters who can cast buffs, if you run off you don't get them. I won't run after you and I won't recast the same mass buff just because you decided to run off.

I fully understand that some players either don't need the buffs, or they prefer to sprint on ahead, and that is certainly no problem.

If I buff myself and four others, and a minute later, when we catch up to Carl Lewis and he asks for the same buffs, I suddenly experience selective deafness.

faster songs would definitely be nice. they already made some of the faster.. and (altho it was a nerf to reduce the amount of buff inspire excellence granted) they made inspire excellence faster by consolidating it to one song... but they still take just so dang long to sing

even tho you can run full speed and sing, so it is entirely possible to buff on the run, i totally am behind speeding up the bard song thing a bit more

i think bard songs are fine the way they are, and I doubt they are gonna change it.But hey ya never know.I suggest in the mean time just buff on the run its not to hard and doesnt slow the quest down.If i had to stand at the begininng of every quest and at every shrine and go through all my songs i think that would add like 3-4 minutes onto every 20 minute quest.

The way they are generates no benefit and causes friction. "WAIT I have 4 more songs to sing!!! Stupid zergers!" "Do we really need to all wait around for Inspire Greatness??? Stupid flower sniffers!"

Changing them to faster would only be a positive outcome. Here's another thought: Bardic Medley! Activates all mass buff songs at once, problem solved. (Alternative names: Bardic Mash-up, Yo Dawg I Heard You Like to Inspire so I Put an Inspire in Your Inspire.)

The great thing about songs is that they can be sung on the run... Just saying.

I don't like the idea of shorter songs. They are kind of suppossed to be songs of inspiration and all, and that's hard to conceive of in 1 note.

On the other hand, they do take a LONG time to get through the lot.

How about instead of 1 strum, overhaul the songs so that a given bard only has 1 song that grants all of the benefits of their myriad of songs.

Obviously a bard would have few songs overall as 1 song would now be like 4, and the duration of the benefits would all last throughout.

The only problem with buffing on the run is, IME at least, the movement speeds are so different between party members, you're still going to miss some, and then they are going to complain.

I support speeding up the playing of the song* because performing a Bard Song is a standard action, not a full round action.

*Bard songs don't actually have to be songs. I'd love to see, for flavor reasons only, a selection where you can pick song, or singing or poetry or whatnot. You could turn it on like metamagic feats. Assign a different performance type to each song even.

Not only are movement speeds different, other characters aren't actually where your screen shows they are (same reason it's hard to generate physics checks on moving monsters). Especially with no visible AoE to provide even an estimate, this makes it very difficult to reliably get buffs on the whole party.

I think it would be fun if the bard got to download 4 seconds of music for his songs. Or, at least, got to pick from a selection of song sounds.
