exactly. We will always have new people coming on-- when I started I didn't know what heck all those strange names were, so I just picked the first one.

The biggest thing I can say about Argo (having played there my entire DDO life) is that it's very channel-based. In some ways, that's good, because when you get invited to channels, you make new friends, find more groups, and possibly get invited to more channels. You have to start somewhere. Make friends with well-known people, like Star or Kitts or DivineJourny, and you'll find yourself with a lot of friends.

Guilds, for the most part, are low-population. There are dozens of lvl 70+ guilds, so it's never really an issue of finding a good one; if you're a 'good enough' player.

Unfortunately, the best way I can describe Argo is it's one big social club. And you ain't in it. The word 'pugger' takes on a new meaning, here. It's usually a way of refering to horrible players, at least in the minds of the top 30%. 'Better than the average pugger' is a common saying. People constantly MyDDO people that they don't know and judge from appearances first, before inviting you.

If you're looking for a super fun, newbie-friendly, family-friendly enviornment, look elsewhere. If you want a server that is filled with people who kick *** and take names, and are effective and efficient levelers, and don't tolerate a lot of BS, pick Argo.

    Having played on ALL servers:

When I started on Argo I realised quickly that it was BY FAR the most elitist server to be a lowbie on.

The Harbour at the time was truly horrific!

However I managed to Level up a 11 Ranger / 7 Cleric {Radiant} / 2 Barb to cap {rdy to TR into Druid upon release} and found that at High Levels things change radically.

Yes I got a couple of people asking about the build BUT not one single bad remark.

Frankly having been completely underwhelmed by Druid on his 2nd Life {still only Lvl 5 as don't like playing him} I'm wishing I'd stayed at cap on that Gimped first life Ranger/Cleric/Barb.

My first guild on Argo I left because of incompatibility issues with at least one officer.
Second and Fourth Guilds were Blind Inviters.
Third Guild was an INFAMOUS* guild led by an INFAMOUS* Ranger - Unfortunately I wasn't one of the high renown earners {Playing on Argo as my third server - about once or twice a week} so got cut.

*Said INFAMOUS Ranger was happy to explain about rebuilding of guild when questioned and I had {and still have} no issues with them.
I just happened to join the guild while the leader was on sabbatical from the game.

Fifth Guild I'm currently very happy in.

tl/dr Argo is a slow starter - Really good server though.

It's not like you have to pay dues to the club or run the gauntlet or something. If you are an excellent person and skilled player I'm 99% sure you will join the club no problem. I disagree on the constant MyDDO'ing and prejudice (only wannabe club members do this). But nobody is charitable enough to feel like they somehow owe it to random people ("puggers") to give them freebies. Bottom line we play the game to have fun and we have fun playing with our friends. That's how it goes.

Yeah I tried going to another server because argo has been a little laggy, thought I'd see what it was like in other servers. Needless to say, I'll just tolerate the lag till it gets worked out.

    Argo is home.

Edit: Or maybe not, I saw something yesterday that was just jaw dropping in its stupidity. I now regret this post.

I would say Argo has the biggest cross-section of players.

New people just starting the game often click on the first server alphabetically=Argo..

This often gives rise to a lot of newb and noob players but also allows for the development of a lot of great players.

I haven't seen a player count for servers, but would guess Argo has the highest poplulation numbers wise and probably also the highest turnover as many people testing the waters of the game come and go.

You haven't seen Drama like ours before.
You haven't seen epicness like ours before.
You can not even begin to comprehend our ways.

If something gets nerfed, it's almost certain it's Argo's fault.
If something gets "Fixed" it IS Argo's fault.
