Default looking for a good melee build

I need advice on a good melee build that is self sufficient but not to the point that it is gimped. 32pt builds all races and some tomes can be used.I do like evasion types with twf but am open to anything. I usually play casters so this is new ground for me. Build gods please help!

something that can level and be end game viable.

    What tomes can you use?
I'm thinking str/wis(/con) light monk is for you.
That which does not kill you gives you experience points.

http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=390915 fighter build thats newbie friendly, I'm still testing it out but haven't died on it yet and currently at level 8 on it, even without any equipment help it will work.

http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=344642 one of shades guides, this one is tank oriënted.

Both are solid builds to start out with.

    Ok, this worked for me.

    Half-orc Monk 20, light
    STR: 17 +3 tome + 2 enhance = 22 unbuffed
    DEX: 15 + 3 tome = 18 unbuffed (qualify for greater wind)
CON: 15 + 3 tome = 18 unbuffed (qualify for greater earth, I recommend this)
    INT: 6 (not important)
    WIS: 15 + 3 tome + 5 level = 23 unbuffed (qualify for epic monk feats)
    CHA: 6 (not important, imo)

+3 tome supreme (only needed are con, +2 for dex and str, +1 for wis)
Feats: Stunning Fist, Power attack, toughness, Cleave, Two weapon fighting, improved two weapon fighting, greater two weapon fighting, dodge, improved critical bludgeoning, greater cleave.
    Possibly in that order
Shintao 3, str and power attack enhancements, earth and either ocean or fire stance, air is not that great in my experience.
Fire and cleave + greater cleave will result in a great deal of Ki-generation, ocean will result in very high DCs and earth will result in very high survivability and good crit profile.

You could also go with half-elf with rogue-dilly for sneak attack bonus, never tried it myself but heard it works well.
That which does not kill you gives you experience points.

HE light monk w/cleric dilly is the obvious choice, IMHO. Either STR-based going for Overwhelming Crit or WIS-based going w/Precision & Vorpal Strikes (if it's been fixed).

From my experience dark monk has more survivability due to the shadow fade or whatever it's called. 25% chance for enemies to miss and you can keep it up permanently.

want a real melee build? horc 18fvs/2ftr/5fury

you can dps with the best of them, without having to whine for buffs. you will not be reliant on anyone to wipe the snot off your nose after a battle, and you can raid heal just as good as a healbot.

    horc

    1.PA
    1.toughness
    2.THF
    3.emp.healing
    6.quicken
    9.ITHF
    12.ICS
    15. GTHF
    18.cleave
    21.g.cleave
    24.ovewhelming critical

    max str, rest in con

for spells take buffs, heals, masses, your sp pool is for healing, no bb or dvine punishment.

the only thing this build lacks is tactical feats, but having well over 2k sp for heals and buffs, will guarantee you will keep fighting long after the immitation self sufficient melees are naught but soul stones.

950+hp at 25, 2400+ sp, high crit in fury sofar was 2945.

twists improved power atk and critical dmg from dreadnaught, and healing power from exalted angel.

for gear i have marlith/cormyrian red armor, claw set, planar set, FB set swapping belt for ravager, cloak of the wolf for15 seeker and +8 con large guild hp slot boots, epic helm of frost... but pdk set, and alot of other gear varieties works.

build also fuctions with a 18clr/2ftr, afew less sp but aura is nice and since you're not casting with your sp just healing, it wouldn't be an issue, though you'd miss wings.

enhancments, go horc str/dmg/pa, dmg boosts, couple extra boosts, toughnesses, scroll mastery, max heal/no crit line...alot of room for customization

note: in fury make sure you take sense weakness, and max the glancing lines, its 90% increase glancing not 9%.
