Why are some items in the DDO store BTC some BTA and some not bound at all?

I have a huge ingredient bag on one character and 2 large bags all full of various ingredients. with the 25% off sale and the free 250 TP code, I purchased a Hargantuan Ingredients bag. It has 365 of 500 spaces filled, so I doubt I will fill it up soon.

however how I have a Huge ingredients bag on that character (also from the DDO store) that is BTC. Can you at least make this BTA so I can use it on another character?

The short answer is that they what you to buy more of the items. Some items that were BTA if bought during the first month or two are BTC bought now (the old version is still BTA but you can't buy it now for any price.)

What is even more interesting is that items described as "unbound" are BTA if you are ftp and this isn't well publicized.

I don't know what is so interesting about it...they set it up that way to prevent the obvious exploit.

I would revise that to say that they changed bags from BtA to BtC, unannounced by the way, to hotfix an exploit. It was supposed to be temporary.

The temporary solution became the permanent solution. Some refunds were given early for players who bought bags thinking they were BtA only to notice when they used them they had become BtC. There was quite a row on the forums about it because Turbine had simply failed to tell anyone until the uproar forced them to 'fess up and offer some remedy. It was not one of the game's finer moments.

P.S. And there was really no need to change Gem or Collectable bags. But they did anyway.
